Bought a new lid...
 

I went to try on some lids today before work. I planned on buying online. I found a good price and wanted to verify sizing. I'm glad I did b/c Suomy changed their sizing a little bit. I woulda bought the wrong size.


Anyway...I went to the local Ducati shop. They sell Suomy and Arai. Well...the were having a massive sale on Suomy lids. So I walked out with a new one.

Suomy Vandal 155. I like it. Bought a mirrored shield too. They didn't have dark smoke in stock. I like mirror better but they scratch super easy.

how does it compare to the other suomy you had? did you have a spec 1 ?

I had the 'old' Vandal...the Ventura. I think the Ventura was actually more comfortable. But the shield sucked. Didn't lock. Venting looks better on this one.

Venting is a TON better - we were laughing about the fact that my eyelashes move with the shield down :lol: I love the dzus-like connectors for the shield though!!! You know the entire interior comes out :)

That's a good question. I can come out of a tuck at 140 and my X11 stays put! There's no shaking around or anything, as long as it's not a real windy day. How's the Suomy?

The old one was fine...hopefully this will be the same.

The Vandal doesn't have the selection of graphics that the Spec 1R's have...I liked this one and the Bayliss. The Bayliss they didn't have...so the choice was easy.

I tried eBay...found a sweet Spec 1 R gamble...but it wasn't prepared to buy just yet. Suomy's don't get quite the deals on eBay...at least not that I've seen.

Nope not yet anyway. I love the Spec 1 R Extreme Chief but there is no way in hell I'm spending nearly 700 bones on a lid.

Exactly...thats why I have the Vandal and not the Extreme. Actually I'd love to spend 7 bills...but I just can't do it right now.

Took the Buell out today. It was the first time since I low sided a few weeks ago. The last of the parts came in on Friday...installed yesterday...ride today.

This was also the first time I've had a chance to wear the new helmet on the bike.


I'm VERY impressed. This Suomy is INSANELY comfortable. Feels great. Air flow is EXCELLENT. With great air flow comes noise. This helmet is no exception. It's not bad when looking straight ahead. But when I turn my head I hear some whistling through the vents. No big deal really. I really like the air flow across the top of the head. In warm weather it'll feel great.

Now, I stopped and closed all the vents. Once moving again, the airflow was still substantial. I could still feel air going through the helmet...but the noise was gone.

Overall, I love the new lid. It feels great. It's well ventilated and weighs next to nothing. Love it.

I like the looks alot. The theme goes good with the American made Buell.

Thanks man. I was really impressed with the feel of the helmet on the bike. And it looks awesome...way better than those shitty Shoei's.

I do like a lot of the suomys look wise, especially compared to the 09 shoei design. I wish I would of found a suomy dealer before I bought my x11, Ive never tried one on before.

You can probly find a killer deal on Suomy's if you're looking. I got this guy at 30% off.

My next one wont be for at least another year or two. Ive only had my x11 since about april of this year.
