Not quite hail... not really sleet... certainly not rain.

Chunky rain.

Dammit, Dano, did you wash your bike again!? :lmao:

JoshuaTree 12-09-2008 09:35 PM

This "not snow" snow had better quit it by morning commute, or we're going to have a mini economic boom in the automotive repair sector here in Austin... :sorry:

ducati_atx 12-09-2008 09:40 PM

Ducati Diva 12-09-2008 09:47 PM

Most of us aren't *from* here - not many are from Austin.

I'm from Minneapolis - I've had enough snow to last a lifetime. It's now just pouring up here. Freezing on the screens though.

Ducati Diva 12-09-2008 09:55 PM

I joke and cut up but seriously You guys take care!!! Ice is no laughing matter.

Truth - especially down here in Austin. If this continues through the night and the temp stays at or below freezing, they'll declare a city-wide emergency and close roads and especially bridges. I learned to drive on ice growing up off of Lake Michigan, just north of Chicago. I can get to work on time safely, but I'd be afraid of getting clobbered by the rest of the idiots (like I was this morning in simple rainfall by a teeanger). Apparently all education levels down here do not teach physics (Newtonian) or the concept of coefficient of friction.

We are icy right now. Not fun.

Archren 12-09-2008 10:30 PM

Holy sleet, batman! I can hear it hitting the window pane. :panic:

Captain Morgan 12-09-2008 10:37 PM

Supposed to be icy here tonight/tomorrow morning. Even people up here don't know how to drive on slick roads.

Adeptus_Minor 12-10-2008 03:19 AM

I'm thinking about the drive home in the morning...

...shit
shit shit shit.

... that is all.

G-Rex 12-10-2008 06:50 AM

Well did they close the city down yet? :lol

azoomm 12-10-2008 08:16 AM

The streets are dry - no ice or snow. Just a bit of white on the rooftops.

My daughters are so disappointed

KSGregman 12-10-2008 08:25 AM

It snowed all day here yesterday....and wind....like 40 mph straight out of the north. :O

I'm convinced Dante got it all wrong with the various circles/levels of hell....fire and brimstone and all of that.

Hell is 24F....dry frozen snow being whipped around by a 40 mph wind. SUCKS!!!

You could always send the girls to see your sister up north. I'm sure they would get their fill of cold and snow then.

HurricaneHeather 12-10-2008 08:34 AM

I had a sheet of icy/snow type stuff on the car this morning. I'm done with winter now. Can we move on to Spring already?

Austinrider 12-10-2008 08:40 AM

I was hoping RRISD would call a 'snow day' but alas they did not. My crazy ass neighbor road this am. I saw him getting his cold weather gear on at 630 when I was leaving the hood. Man it is too cold for me to ride Im a wuss ;o)

Thats why God invented roofs and heaters.... so we dont have to freeze our asses off on the bike on the way to the office when its 30 degrees out.

I saw someone on their bike on 35 this morning. :panic: I might be able to do cold on the bike (especially if I had an aerostitch.. isn't that right, Tracy? redflip), but with chunks of ice and snow flying off cars in front of me, not so much.

i have today off and was planning on sleeping in 'till the crack of noon. instead, my girlfriend woke me up ay 7:30 to tell me her windshield is frozen over and she lost her ice scraper. So at 7:40, my dumb-@ss is out in the 30 degree weather with a surfboard wax comb(it's Texas, thats the closest thing i own to an ice scraper), scraping ice off of her Accord. *sigh* that's karma rewarding me for taking a day off.

At least you weren't like the woman in my apartment complex (I think it was 2003). She came downstairs with a bucket of steaming hot water. I stopped her and told her "You don't want to do what I think you're going to do".

She just gave me a look of indifference and scoffed a bit... telling me she knew exactly what she was doing.

I just stood there and watched. It's one of those things that I've always wanted to see.... she threw the water at her windshield. It shattered into a billion pieces then fell inside.

I just chuckled, turned and walked away.

Hi Dano!!!!

I used a best buy credit card when my defroster broke on my truck. card held up for about 6 or 7 scrapes, froze, and then broke in half. the laws of physics are sweeeeeet!
