ZX14 Rumors
Being a fan of big bore GT bikes, I am beginning to hear rumors of a change in in the 20112 ZX14 and it intrigues me . What is being thrown about is a change in Displacement to 1429cc traction control and ABS brakes. This along with a few rumored cosmetic changes are very enticing to me. Anyone with an inside line to Kawasaki?
|
I've also heard about a makeover and enhancements but no specifics and only hear say
|
On the ABS front the Concours 14 has it available. I can't imagine putting that system on the ZX-14 would be terribly difficult.
|
It's getting that and a 4k jump in price

From $13,599 to $17,599? I can't see that happening.

As a guy who owns a Busa and a B King I don't really care about appearance. (although they could loose the Big George Grill on either side. The Projected Jump form 1352 to 1429 is enough to make me curious, that along with the better brakes than the Suzuki line has me wondering.

The upside is that same change should make US manufactured goods cheaper to sell in Japan. Too bad we don't make anything anymore. |

Then why haven't 600's dramatically increased? They're still in the high 10K range, which hasn't changed in years.

A few years ago, the 600's were in the $9k range. A few years before that, they were in the $7k range. |

The heydays of the mid-00's are over. I knew a guy who paid almost $13K for his 05 600RR, including taxes & setup. But these days, almost nobody pays MSRP, and if they do, they're flat-out stupid. |

Yammer R6 MSRP $9,990.00
Triumph 675 MSRP $9,799.00 Gxsr 600 MSRP $10,399.00 zx6 MSRP $9,799.00 |
so, in 2 years (2009 to 2011), the zx6r has increased by 9%, the r6 by 8%, the 675 by 7%, and the gix600 by 11%
weaksauce, compared to the proposed 29% increase for the zx14 also, who is actually paying those MSRP's anyway? |

Here it is. As a long time busa guy the specs make me sit up and pay attention. 100 CC more than a stock gen 2 busa (Big Bore Busa displacement with a factory wuarrantee

Slip ons, an undertail kit, and some billet fluid reserviors... Done. |
I like it as well, I think those exhaust cans resemble those on the busa

I really don't mind the lights, but the cheese graters on the sides look too much like a mix between a Suzuki RF900R and a Testarossa. |

I don't care if the bike is pink with purple polka dot dicks and the exhaust sounds like Rebecca Black's Friday. If that fucker puts out 250hp then I'm game. You won't see it anyways as I come by on the rear wheel at 180mph. |
Doesn't look bad, but why do all the Sport tourer bikes go with analog speedo and tach? I really prefer a digital speedo.
|
Quote:
I believe in this case it is so you can actually get a sense of the speedo moving. Instead of it being a blur then flashing 299. :lol |

When I rode the Sprint, I never knew how fast I was going, too hard to find the speed on the dial. Maybe after you get used to it so you know that 55 is at 10 o'clock etc it would be easier... |
|
Quote:
2) Nothing beats watching that dial climb as you pump through the gears. 3) Standing there looking at it - analog looks "faster"... or more high performance to me... |
Quote:
|
That's fast... like shit my pants and ask for seconds fast...
|
son of a fucking bitch. God damn, that shit is fast. It's gonna be nuts when people start tuning that bitch.

Also, those bikes are so wide, that they have to fill that space with a wide dashboard with big gauges. |
Analog gauges are good for the street IMO. You don't have to look at them directly to know your speed. Digital you have to directly glance at it.
Maybe digital gauges allow for lighter weight (key for sport bikes) while other classes can keep a the ole needle for design aesthetic. maybe....I'm not an expert on these things you know |
Quote:
|
I would say only 10-20% of analogs are good-looking, or quickly readable at speed.
With most pre-digital sportbikes, most of their speedos were so small that you had to squint to tell if you were going 72 or 78. The needle blocked half of the space between 70 and 80. That's why I prefer digitals. |
Is that Ricky? guy is cool as fuck in person. Tunes a mean PCIII too...
