Well I'm happy to say.... my bike and I have made it to the 200,000 mile mark!

Yup yup.... as the title states, she rolled over 200k earlier tonight without even so much as a hiccup, and still rolling right along and running like a dream!

I started looking through all my old pics and got all sappy, so I decided to do something a little different this time instead of the quick rollover video and a few pics. So I made a video, and started from the beginning and posted some pics from along the way of our travels, and then the video of it rolling over at the end. Music is a little cheesy, I know, but hey I had to add something in there, and plus it just seemed to kinda fit the theme pretty well, lol

YouTube - 2004 CBR 600 F4i turning 200,000 miles + brief history

And I'll put a few pics up anyways...

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...s/DSC02521.jpg

Being that it was getting dark, it made for getting pics 'at the scene' nearly impossible. This is about the only one that even somewhat turned out

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...s/DSC02525.jpg

Keeping with tradition, I had to get the shot at 19 miles, lol. First pics I took of the bike and odo were at 19, so I stopped and took one again at 19 after it turned 100k

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...s/DSC02532.jpg

Took a few more pics when I got home

Definitely living up to her name!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...s/DSC02554.jpg

New GoPro... worked like a champ!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...s/DSC02566.jpg

Since those kinda suck too, here's a couple daytime pics from the day before

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...s/DSC02509.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...s/DSC02511.jpg

As for the bike... it's still running like an absolute dream! Still ridden daily, never gives me a lick of trouble. As long as she keeps running good, I'll keep riding her.... still curious as to just how far she'll go!

fnfalman 10-10-2010 04:35 AM

Very badass!!!

Particle Man 10-10-2010 07:42 AM

Freakin' SWEET!

Rangerscott 10-10-2010 10:19 AM

Congrats. I just barely rolled over 45k.

ontwo 10-10-2010 11:10 AM

man that is truly awesome

Captain Morgan 10-10-2010 02:27 PM

Excellent. You should submit that to Honda, maybe they'll give you something for it. Never know. Very nice to see someone riding their bike as much as you do.

Mr Lefty 10-10-2010 02:56 PM

awesome... what's crazy to me is how few states you've been in and hit 200k!

no crazy long trips coast to coast... just steady consistent riding... outstanding!

pauldun170 10-10-2010 03:38 PM

So awesome...
Its a shame the original engine couldn't make the trip.

Absolutely, they should at least give him a t-shirt or a gift certificate to his local Honda dealer or something. Maybe interview him and put him in a promo video.

tommymac 10-10-2010 10:13 PM

good work, I am only at a quarter of that many miles :(

6doublefive321 10-10-2010 11:15 PM

Wow. Just, wow. Congrats. Definitely hit up Honda. That is quite an accomplishment.

101lifts2 10-11-2010 01:09 AM

Your ODO shows it turned past 100k, not 200k. How do we know if it turned over twice? You could be lying. lol

Did you watch the video? It shows it turning past 100k once, then past 100k again. It's daylight the first time, then night the second time. ;)

No silly of course not othewise I wouldn't have said it.

Just watched it...can we assume that is u in the pics? lol I bet there was alot of times that you said...FUUUUCK. past another state line sign. Gotta turn around again. hahaha

 Yeah, that's Jared in the pics. And your comment there is exactly why I have zero pics of state lines. However, I have tried to take some pics of my bike near recognizable landmarks when I've taken trips. Just want something for the grandkids to look at after I'm dead.

Avatard 10-11-2010 03:37 AM

Congrats

Outstanding. Definitely contact Honda...unless you DON'T wanna be in a commercial, because my bet is that this would flip their skirts way up.

OneSickPsycho 10-11-2010 09:24 AM

Considering the mileage on ALL of your Honda vehicles, I'm damn sure they'd put you in a commercial. You may also be able to pimp yourself out in some of the cycle mags.

what's even more hilarious is that Honda didn't put a digit there - they must not expect 'em to make it that far

Homeslice 10-11-2010 10:34 AM

Nice, congrats. Just goes to show you how dumb some people are for thinking bikes are disposable objects that will blow up past 10,000 miles. Clutches and rectifiers might wear out, but there is no reason why a bike engine can't last as long as a car engine. High rpm's don't make any difference if they were built to handle them.

Had one wheel bearing go out in the front.... axle seal failed and it leaked water into the bearing and rusted. Replaced both front bearings, I think it was around 160k or so. Clutch is 100% factory original....

I did have to change the steering head bearings somewhere around the same time as well.... they got notchy and had a detent in the straight ahead position

I would even argue that a good number of motorcycle engines are more likely to last longer because they were engineered to withstand such high RPM

Badass! People are amazed that my bike has roughly 50k on it and that it is still going strong.

Get your ass in a commercial. Though didn't Toyota or Honda do a commercial with people having their car go over 1million miles?

derf 10-11-2010 09:33 PM

How many bikes ever even get a chance to hit 200k? 100k? 99% of the bikes out there either dont hardly get ridden, just sit, get wrecked, or just replaced with something new.

Also, jared, pretty damn bad ass

I know several folks with old 'Wings at the half-million mile mark. Does that count?

G-Rex 10-11-2010 09:41 PM

Super cool!

Can't wait til' my Busa gets that far! She's knockin' on 70k now! Still a few days to go!

Yeh I know a few that go that far too, but really for every new bike sold how many get wrecked and how many jsut sit? What does 1 out of every 200,000 bikes made make this kind of mileage.

And there is a huge difference between a goldwing and an f41

Huge difference is an understatement. Sad fact is that you're probably right: most either sit or get wrecked. That's too bad because I'll bet any number of Japanese sportbikes can rack up the miles.

Rangerscott 10-11-2010 10:01 PM

Hopefully ill never have to sell my vfr. Maybe one day ill be able to make a thread like this. Of course some multi state riding would help me out.

How did you know when the wheel bearing went out? Slop in the wheel, noise?

I have 35k in my EX500 was thinking about replacing the bearings as they are only about 100 bucks total for the bearings and seals.

No it wasn't loose at all, or make any noise. I could feel it ever so slightly at very low speeds, it just didn't feel smooth. Plus I also check them every time I have the wheels off for a tire change or whatever else, and I could feel it starting to get a little rough. Once I popped the axle seal out and saw the one side was all rusty....

101lifts2 10-12-2010 01:12 AM

OIC..

Do you use full syn. oil on ur changes and if so what weight and brand?

Yup... Mobil 1 full syn 10w-40 now, but when I was in Flawriduh I was using 15w-50... changed every 5000 miles

Rangerscott 10-12-2010 01:34 AM

I keep forgetting. The car or bike mobil 1?

lauralynne 10-12-2010 01:55 PM

Contact Honda - I'll bet they'll pony up something.
That's awesome though!

Do you use the MXT40 Motorcycle Oil OR the Mobil1 Full Syn. 10W40 car oil? I don't like the car oil because that type of oil has "seal conditioner", which swells up seals so they don't leak.

Honda isn't going to give him anything. The 200K is basically undocumented and uncontrolled running conditions. If they tore the engine apart, it wouldn't indicate anything concrete.

When I rolled 200k on my Pontiac Grand Prix I emailed GM and they sent me a license plate frame that said "Over 100,000 miles of Pontiac driving excitement"

It wasn't much but I thought it was pretty cool.

I'd have another but they don't make 'em manual tranny anymore.

Uh....no. They don't care. They already have accelerated mileage testing, but on bikes who gets to 200k anyway? It isn't a selling feature.

You might get a license plate though.:lol Particle Man may just be right here....of course the plate frame may be for a car. hahaha

Avatard 10-13-2010 01:47 AM

Well, there's only one fucking way to know...but I'm still betting he gets more than a license plate frame. 200K on a bike IS noteworthy.

Esp a sportbike, I can see on a goldwing or other touring bike but for a sportbike to get that far is impressive.

Mudpuppy 10-13-2010 01:34 PM

hell yes 200k on a bike is pretty fucking sweet..

goof2 10-13-2010 03:01 PM

Nice job, especially when the effort you made rebuilding the engine to get it there is factored in.:dthumb:

Really? I think 100k is the break in period for a Honda or Toyota. And that's if you drained the oil out when you bought it. GM doesn't have high hopes do they.

Gas Man 10-14-2010 10:04 AM

Great!!!! That is amazing!!

Awesome, Jared!

And good onya for being stubborn & not letting it die. :dthumb:

Still cracks me up that I got such a smoking deal on my GSXR 'cus the guy thought it was 'worn out' at ~28k... :lol

Yeah not so much. I haven't gotten less than 150k out of any if that counts.
