Friend and Foe

I know no one on here is like this....
but how come bikers are "friends" when they see each other on opposite sides of the road and when they are on the same side they feel the need to race each other?

Gas Man 10-17-2009 10:43 PM

IDK what you are talking about...

I understand your words but never expierenced that.

tached1000rr 10-17-2009 10:46 PM

I have seen guys turn around and catch back up with you to see how fast you are riding through the twisties, I'll wave them by just so know I'm not looking for a duel....

derf 10-17-2009 10:49 PM

Its not about racing, I just dont want to ride behind someone else

Not if they are slow at least, and I don't want to hold up anyone who is faster

So you actually pay attention to what you might be potentially racing... good.

But where I typically ride it's not straightaways, a skilled rider on a 250 or 500 can rule if the rider on the liter is not all that skilled.

yerp. i might tweek the guy a little bit to make him go away though. i only really care about how my bike performs vs my friend's freak K5. and thats always a losing battle  though i will give duc's chase on odd occasion and i can recall at least once passing a zx14 on a two lane twisty cut through some woods near my house on the 450. :D that guy didnt stop at the light afterwards

Trip 10-17-2009 11:55 PM

Get faster an learn to out ride them or just get crazier. People are dicks, that's why they do that.

Switch 10-18-2009 12:59 AM

I don't like being behind anyone, whether it be bike or car. Hell, I even pass my buddy on hill climbs when riding dirt. I just don't like it.

It's a penis thing

Same reason kids in civics roll up on M3's and want to test them, or rednecks with 36" tires on their pickups/jeeps use to roll up next to other lifted trucks/jeeps and yell "let's hook em up" (meaning, lets go out to the nearest mudhole, chain my rear bumper to yours and take off in opposite directions and see who can PULL whom)

I just tell them they've more than likely got a bigger dick and keep going :idk: I got nothing to prove any more

Phenix_Rider 10-18-2009 11:11 AM

Dunno- I rarely see a bike going the same direction  I'll pass an occasional cruiser, but sportbikes are very rare around here. There is no one to race.

great line Troy!

t-homo 10-18-2009 08:01 PM

We never race other than just messing around within the group. If we come up on slower riders, we politely buzz past em and continue on our way.

What about douchebags in M3s that want to race stock civics when the civic is just trying to get home after a long day at work.

Antwanny 10-18-2009 09:28 PM

lol that and gt mustangs trying to race everyone in town. Side note there is a fat white guy in a blue gt with his feelings hurt. (nice try) i think i have raced 2 or 3 times but its all good fun.

Particle Man 10-18-2009 09:37 PM

I have never experienced it with another motorcycle before.

Now every other Cobalt, Neon, Focus, and Cavalier apparently feel the need to "race" (um, yeah... I don't ride anywhere near the fastest bike on the road but come the f**k on...)

Cass 10-18-2009 09:39 PM

Just find someone to ride behind that provides a nice view :)

Switch 10-20-2009 04:32 PM

My Volvo will give you a run fer your money!

101lifts2 10-20-2009 10:36 PM

I do this....when I come upon a sportbike in the canyons..IT'S ON!!

There is no "more than likely" in that statement for you.

:D

Nobody ever tries to race me.

marko138 10-26-2009 02:48 PM

I thought about racing a Porche up the mountain yesterday, but I just hung back and let him do his thing. Guy was hauling ass.

papapoi 10-26-2009 03:22 PM

i hate when you go to pass someone on putting along then they speed up to block you , which i just drop a gear or 2 give them the bird. think to myself ya and you still got passed by an SV.

This pisses me off too, especially when I was in the car. I used to wish I was on the bike because I could drop a few gears and be gone. Now I have the car I can do this a little better in so I'm a pretty happy camper these days.
