Well, that sucks... surprised I didn't notice that in my research :(

On the upside, I drove a Mazdaspeed 3 today and loved it.
Whether I actually end up buying one or not remains to be seen, I need to do some more looking. Still, thanks for the info. :dthumb:

The mazda 3 is a nice car. They are built about a mile from my house. I have a few friends that work there and an uncle. My uncle I believe does under body quality checks. Same plant that builds the mustang.

However, you will find that the insurance is going to be higher on that Mazda than the corresponding GM/Chrysler/Ford.

mazda speed3 is better and it is not built by your house.. i had a speed6 and quality wise it sucked ass but performance wise it was great..

Is speed 3 the high performence one? They build the mazda 3 in flat rock, don't they? or is it the mazda 6?? I always get those 2 mixed up.

The 6 is built in the US, the 3 is still built in Japan.

Then it's the 6 that is built like 2 miles (if that) from my house. If I go down the street I can see the factory.

Cutty72 06-20-2010 04:46 PM

The speed anything is the performance model. And yes, the 6 is the one made here in the states.

Yep and made down the street from my place.

Adeptus_Minor 06-21-2010 01:12 AM

But the speed3 is the one now parked outside my apartment
If I walk down to the stairwell, I can see it. :D

The speed 3 is tight for anything bigger than a teen boy.

I'm 5'10", ~190 and it's not that tight for me. :nee:
Granted, there are a good few teenage boys bigger than me.

Five foot, ten 225 and it was cutting off the circulation in my legs and squeezing my ribs uncomfortably and the console felt as if it was pushing me out the door...even the wife, the car was for her, was not comfortable, at all.

Gas Man 06-25-2010 09:42 AM

split into new thread... you jacking bastards

Adjust the seat :nee:

Seriously though, some reviewers did say it wasn't all that comfortable, but I've yet to have a problem with it.
My only sort-of issue is simply one of technique... relearning the art of the smooth launch and seamless upshift.

(oh, and sorry Gas.. didn't mean to make it all about me )

TommyHotWheel 06-25-2010 04:06 PM

It launched wonderfully, smooth shifts and cornered like a kart, just a tight cabin to us.

The 2010 Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 intended for North American sales are built in Hofu City, Yamaguchi, Japan. The Hofu plant is Mazda’s flagship facility where the automaker builds transmissions and the Mazda3, Mazdaspeed3 and Mazda6, however, Mazda6s that are made for the North American market are manufactured in Michigan.

By June 2008, the Hofu plant had produced more than 8 million vehicles and 27 million transmissions since starting operations in 1981.
Now quit jackin' MY thread, bitches :nee::lol:

Nice bang for the buck, but that's a lot of power for wrong wheel drive. I'd look @ the WRX, the driving experience would be so much better w/ awd.

Thought about it, but I'd have had to get the base model WRX to get the price I was looking for.

FWD behavior aside, I've been really happy with the Speed3 so far.
