I will say this though... If you are looking at getting something like this... I saw a guy who got a rashed up pillion and made his own real easy... I'd do that.

I could have easily gotten away with 1/2. Next time I don't even think I'll bring the top bag, just rock the saddles... Well... maybe try to shoehorn my sleeping bag into the top bag...

Mr Lefty 01-22-2009 03:59 AM

That's exactly what I was think'n too... I could get away with the saddle bags with out even expanding them. I had my laptop in my tail bag, or i'd have put my rain gear and my sleeping bag/pillow in that.

Maybe I'd bring a pillow next time... Nah, fuck it. Next time I'm not even taking a sleeping bag. I'll spend the cash to get a hotel room... Putting on 600 miles and sleeping in a tent the size of a large unfolded napkin fucking sucked... Hotel FTMFW.

Mr Lefty 01-22-2009 04:25 AM

yeah the camping in AR sucked... and not getting a good nights rest then riding 900 miles was fuck'n torture.

plus all the shit strapped to my bike just unnerved me. I'd rather just have the bags... nothing on the outside...

the other nice thing with the hotels are most have laundry facilities... so that means less packing as you can wash shit. and I know I feel better when I get to shower daily

KOA's have laundry and showers... From what I saw, and understand about other KOA's, the facilites are always nice and clean. However, there's something to be said about unloading your bike and hitting a bed rather than unloading your bike, setting up your tent, and sleeping on the ground.

Mr Lefty 01-22-2009 04:56 AM

that and change'n in a tent when it rains sucks. as with packing up or setting up in the rain.

and KOA's aren't everywhere... but yeah... every KOA i've been at has been nice.

That too. KOA FTL, hotel FTW.

Mr Lefty 01-22-2009 05:01 AM

KOA does have lodges at some locations...

but I did have trouble when looking at camp grounds... was they didn't alow motorcycles because of the exhaust being too loud...
