:lol

sometimes when you are diving you cant even see one... then an antena appears out of the corner of a reef.. you go down for a closer look and they are everywhere... I love it when that happens..

lobster season is in 33 days :rockwoot:

AquaPython 06-25-2009 11:42 AM

lino i should do some lobster hunting with you. lmk

I no longer have a boat and I am at the merci of my friend who already has his boat reserved full... I always go with him for the past 15 yrs and he would be insulted if I didnt go with him... ( so I can catch all the lobsters) LOL...

I need to get my own boat again...

After the initial mini and regular season week.. Im open ( although, there are not many lobsters after those days)

AquaPython 06-25-2009 12:13 PM

meh

shmike 06-25-2009 12:16 PM

Mikey,

I don't think I can make mini season but I'm in for the first week of regular season.

From what I hear Hollywood has a decent reef for lobster.

Lock in a boat.

AquaPython 06-25-2009 12:23 PM

alright - you got a place you charter boats out of hollywood?
i know a pretty nice group out of deerfield

shmike 06-25-2009 12:32 PM

Why not use a Freedom boat?

AquaPython 06-25-2009 12:47 PM

i would have to stay on the boat :(

how would they know? they put a GPS on you and know if you jump overboard?

AquaPython 06-25-2009 01:02 PM

no, but still would need a 3rd person to be on the boat, it will likely be a drift dive, and need a pick up.

Curb 06-25-2009 01:06 PM

show me how to drive a boat and i'll do it :D

shmike 06-25-2009 01:16 PM

Out.

I figured we'd leave the girls top side.

I didn't think about having to be picked up.

I didn't think you were allowed to live in Florida without proficient boating knowledge but I'm not trusting my life and your boat in the hands of T, H or curb! :tremble:

you trust me to wrench on your bike but not pick you up in a boat:lol

ehh, whatever floats your boat:lol:

shmike 06-25-2009 01:40 PM

My bike doesn't cost $120k and have my wife on board.

Lino 06-25-2009 01:44 PM

you go lobstering with tanks? not freediving?

shmike 06-25-2009 01:45 PM

If I have to go below 8 feet for more than 10 seconds, I have a tank on.

AquaPython 06-25-2009 02:09 PM

actually never been lobstering before. i usually only dive reefs and the occasional wreck

cool.. lets do this.. after the rush for lobsters is done (early October before the water gets cold).. I assume you have a boat.. we will go out in 10-20 feet of water and Ill show you how to do it free diving..

I used to do it with tanks... but its to slow, and by the time you have all you gear on, I'll have caught all the ones on that reef, and its time to get out of the water and move..

AquaPython 06-25-2009 04:03 PM

sounds good

shmike 06-25-2009 04:04 PM

Fuck you guys.

I'll get my own lobster.

Ninjakel 06-25-2009 04:10 PM

Curb, you don't know how to captain a boat?? Seriously??

Yes, I may be young. But at least I'm somewhat trained in driving a boat unlike you fly by the seat of your pants, slack jawed OLD yokels.

My gf's grandfather has some house in Key Largo off I think Blackwater bay/sound. I might be going there in November for a triathlon in Miami and would love to do some diving/swimming around those reefs. Were is that stuff you were at because I can't find "Elbow" on Google Maps. And is that stuff in that Blackwater sound?

it is in the Ocean side around 10 miles south of Carysfort Light...

you go out through adams cut MM 103ish and take the south cut ( go right follow the red and green markers) out to the ocean then 90 degrees out 5 miles around 10-15 depth

shmike 07-17-2009 12:21 PM

Lino,

You crazy to be out in the middle of the oh-chin. You ever been 'norklin?

Still lost but it doesn't matter. I think we're going to Turks and Caicos instead which I think has some good snorkeling/scuba stuff. Heard there are pirate caves there which is what I really want to check out.

Lino 07-22-2009 12:20 PM

OK so here is a video from being dragged around behind the boat.. and we come across a bath tub under water...

I have been diving for years and have never seen on as big as this one. it was easilly a 20" diameter balloon

Lino 10-12-2009 11:26 AM

Both days were beautiful but visibility was far better on Saturday.

nice . here are a few shots someone sent me this morning of what a $10,000 rig can do in the hands of amateurs.

Leon 10-12-2009 12:45 PM

nice pics

Lino 10-12-2009 02:01 PM

those are awesome..

mine were with a regular old $400.00 camera, and holding my breath freediving

I would love to try some with tanks and good equip..

fasternyou929 10-12-2009 02:15 PM

Some nice pics, Lino! You ever get Mikey out there with you?

Went lobster diving a couple times. The one thing I was NOT expecting was the squealing sounds those little guys make when you grab onto them. I almost lost the first one, it caught me so off-guard.

we still have not been able to go for a dive..

that sound is the antena joint rubbing ... you should here how they squeal when you ripp the heads off.. :tremble:

my friend and I went for lobsters this past weekend, but only caught enough for dinner... at this point in the year you dont find that many

Are you hitting known spots or do you tow behind a boat?

known areas.. not specific spots, but general areas we have typically found lobster for the last 15 years... the wives and kids did not feel like spending the day trolling us in 2-4' waves.. so we anchored and swam around, and found 5 bugs and went back in for some cold adult beverages...:carbomb:

psychochild28 10-14-2009 02:05 AM

Nice pics.

I'm heading back to the Marathon area either in Nov or Dec. Can't wait to get back diving and lobstering. I miss living down there.

Lino 10-16-2009 12:00 PM

you will need to go deep with tanks this time of the year... all the easy picking on the shallows are gone..

Nov Dec water= too cold for me:tremble:
