I'm going to UIUC this fall so I'm moving from Georgia soon. I'll be in Chicago often being my fiancee will be living there while I finish up school.

Anyone from these areas?

And if so I have gun law questions.

Thanks I've read through some of that before and honestly it's a good laugh. I loved the part where they had a whole section describing it is illegal to fire a weapon at an emergency vehicle then went in to describe every level of an EMT you can't shoot at.

Are there any good midwest forums to look for? I found the UIUC one but I really don't want to mix my out of school life with things that can be connected to school.

Yeah, Illinois gun laws are ridiculous. I'm 10 miles away from the border, but can't carry if I cross the border. I have to unload the gun and store it just to cross the state line. The crappy thing is there aren't a lot of states that honor Indiana's carry permits, most likely because we don't have to take any classes to get the permit. We simply fill out a form, go to the police station to get fingerprinted, then wait 4 to 6 weeks and get a little pink card in the mail with our information on it. No pic on the card, just name and info.

Georgia is the same as Indiana and we're not honored in many others too. I'll carry regardless (especially in Chicago). I plan to get residency since I'll likely live there some time after and that way I can bitch to my local politicians about it. Not so sure how far I'll get with Dick Durbin.
