Slip On...and a PC3???

Ok, So I'm hearing two stories about this one...I'm planning on buying a Slip on for the 6R and I need to know if I HAVE to purchase a Power Commander with it or if I can run JUST a slip on Safely.

I've heard both sides of the story and Im still confused about which one is right...I Can order both the exhaust and the Power commander but I am trying to safe money for a few other things so If i can just run a slip on and then add the power commander later that would be my Ideal route...

Anyone have any solid input on this??

Obviously the bike is an 08 ZX6R Fuel injected Undertail exhaust.

You don't need a PCIII with just a slip-on. But I would however get a better breathing air filter like a BMC.

I'm pretty sure with just a slip-on you do not have to install the PCIII.

However to get the most out of it and to assure correct A/F ratio you would need this.

A slip-on isn't really going to add more than 2 or 3 hp most likely so even with the PCIII you won't get much if any more but if put on a dyno...with the PCIII you can adjust the ratio if it isn't exactly where you want it.

If you're trying to save money then I think you would be fine without it.

If you were adding a full system and even the upgraded air filter then I'd say the PC3 was a must.

OK...I was planning on the Akropovic but then I did some searching and i found this...Which I think looks/sounds Fuckign Sexy...(I have a thing for Loud)

http://motowerkz.com/Home.html

But it basically comes right off the Cat and pops out by the rear tire and eliminates the undertail completly...But it takes off like 15 pounds from the bike...And I like the look.

a different air filter would create more of a need for a PCIII if you get a slip on.

An akra slip on is usually built around the stock filter without need for a pcIII. If you start changing more things, you will get more flat spots and would need a PCIII.

Ahh Fuck it...The Motowerks Exhaust and a PC3 is as much as the Akropovic would cost me Alone...

God I spend way to much money.

I guess that's true. Bikes run so lean from the factory now that if you let it breath more freely it will run even leaner. I added the slip-on, PCIII, and air filter and the same time so. :idk:

id do the jumper mod and then slap on the pc iii. Absolute up in elizabeth usually has the best prices for pcs.

You don't have to run the PCIII. I didn't when I put my slip on. I added the PCIII a year later. :idk:

Not sure on bike EFI systems but vehicle EFI system will compensate for changes.

The only time I know when a person has to mess with the fuel/air on a bike is if its carb'd.

Computer add ons are fun but they arnt necessary for EFI systems. It's very time consuming messing around with a PCIII and trying to get a good mixture through out the whole power band. I'm still farting around with my PCIII but I've been getting terrible mileage with it so I have it disconnected for now. Its trial and error.
