__________________ Did everyone see this video posted by OSP in another thread? The riders are passing cars with oncoming cars going on to the shoulder to avoid a head-on with the bikers. Nine times out of ten, the oncoming car will pull over. But that tenth vehicle, the three-ton Excursion with the soccer-mom on the phone, won't pull over. I ride just as fast as the video riders, on much older bikes, on tighter roads, and with no shoulder. I lean off more than those riders, and I pass on the double yellow all the time. But only when I can see it's clear. It would be asinine for me to expect an oncoming vehicle to get out of my way. I like to be in control of everything that I can control. Especially my destiny. I hope nobody here rides like those idiots. |
nope can't say i do make double passes while a bike is passing a car you are passing them, etc. save the stunting for empty parking lots or industrial parks after hours.. save the speed for the track for the most part..

See I'm not so bad after all! I almost NEVER pass on a double yellow. Never ever double pass. Never wheelie in the middle of the pack. Never expect oncoming traffic to get out of my way. It's like that video was specifically made to make guys like ya'll use the "S" word!

I can't stand watching that shit. That's about the worst riding I've ever seen. I say each and every rider on that vid should lose his license, lose his bike, and get jail time. Not only were they putting themselves and the rest of the group in danger, but also other drivers on those roads.
Don't care if they were wearing full gear, that's the definition of a squid. No amount of gear protects you from a two ton vehicle closing at 100+ mph. |

Freaking crazy. I hate passing on a double line and rarely do. But sometimes you have to unless you want to get stuck behind grandma for 30miles on some nice twisties.
Just curious but when riding on twisties how often do you have slower cars pull over for you? I didn't have but 1 pull over for me at Deal's Gap and on US64 heading west of Highlands, NC I had literally every car pull over for me and I wasn't even trying to ride fast. It was crazy. That also reminds me of a couple of videos I tried finding a while back. One was of these two guys in Europe in which one of the guys was passing on a curve on a double yellow line and side swiped a car and kept on going. Another was of two guys on Supermotards who had insane driving skills but where passing between cars on double lines doing wheelies and weaving doing wheelies. |

i pass on the double yellow, i pass two at a time, i wheelie, i speed... shoot me, but never stupid completly ignorant acts that endanger the lives of others
