Scorpion EXO 500

I just bought a Scorpion EXO 500 in Neon Yellow to replace my HJC helmet. Looking forward to the built in sun visor.

My HJC is a XL but had to go up to a 3XL in the Scorpion to get the correct fit. :?:

Dealer should have my helmet in wednesday or thursday. I paid $196.xx for it.

Reviews after I get it and ride.

I love the features in the scorpions, but they don't fit my melon correctly.

I got the guy in charge of parts at Blackmans Cycle to help me get the correct fit. It felt good on my head and he said it looked like it fit well too.

I love my 1000. The only problem I've had to far is the snap in cheek pads. The clip thing is broken on one side, but it doesn't seem to affect the mechanism for pumping the pads. Oh, and the damn chin skirt thingy. I had to rip that fucker out since it kept fogging my visor.

Picked up the helmet thursday night ( with the suburban so I could keep the box)

Woke up this morning to thunder, lightning and heavy rain :gofurslf:

Psh. Mine is fine in the rain, so yours should be too!

Rain doesn't bother me, lightning scares the shit out of me. It was a very intense light show on the way to work this morning.

Ah, that I can understand. I feel on edge in stormy weather like that too.

Quick review--- I've worn it for about 200 miles so far. The built in sun visor is the greatest thing since sliced bread  No more sun over my glasses or in from the side. I wear glasses and it's much easier to get them on than my HJC 12. There is a lever on the left side at your ear which flips the sunshield up and down. It works very easily. There is also a lever to lock the face shield in the down position too ( track day? :?: )

Fit is good and the cheek pad pump works great and deflates easily for removal.

Ventilation is good even on hot days. I won't comment on wind noise since I wear earplugs when I ride ( as a machinist, I'm deaf enough as it is and wear ear plugs every time I ride to try to reduce further damage )

The helmet seems "stable". I never realized the movement of my HJC until I starting using this EXO 500. I guess those aerodynamic ridges actually work

If somebody were to steal this helmet, I would replace it with the exact same model in a heartbeat.

Update on the helmet. Still happy with it and no problems at all. I did have a stretch of about 18 months when I wasn't riding ( two shoulder surgeries ) but a good purchase.

I've owned nothing but Lazers for over 20 years now and I'm a huge fan of the inner visor! Unfortunately, Lazer has discontinued the inner visor and now uses a self-darkening visor. It's just like prescription glasses that darken in the sun. It's a great idea but, it's not as quick as the inner visor even though it darkens in about 10 seconds. Of course, it also takes about 10 seconds to lighten too so tunnels require a quick flip up of the visor to see! My biggest complaint is it's not as dark as my old inner visor. It's perfect if I wear my sunglasses with it but, then that kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it!?
Congratulations on the new helmet! It's always good when you get something that lives up to your hopes!

I've enjoyed my EXO-400 for the last 2 years. It doesn't have the adjustable chin pads and that is the only snug point on the helmet. The rest fits like a dream. But I'm going for one with the drop down visor next for sure. I love the Scorpion stuff.

Mine is holding up pretty good. The button holding the strap in place has broken off which is no big deal. General wear and tear aside from that. The cheek compression still works. Inner visor still works. It's starting to feel like it needs to be replaced soon, but I may be able to get another season out of it. I now feel the need to dig out the chin strap I buried somewhere due to the smaller windscreen on the cbr. I'd buy it again, and I just might.
