What happens when you give the front man for a crappy group a radio show?
A cross between "50 Shades of Grey" and "Fight Club", allegedly.
Jian Ghomeshi, former front man for comedy musical group Moxy Fruvous and host of the radio show "Q", on CBC radio (syndicated to a bunch of American outlets also) is in a bit of trouble. It seems that there have been rumours about his sexual proclivities for years now. Last week the CBC fired him. Reports say that it was after he showed his bosses some BDSM video he'd taken, in order to prove that it was consensual and not rape/sexual assault. It seems they decided they didn't care if it was consensual; they didn't want anything to do with someone like that.
It also came out that the Toronto Star, a newspaper known for having an excellent investigative reporting group, had been digging into this story since something like last February. Rumours abounded that Ghomeshi was not just into BDSM, but also got off on physically assaulting women who he was on dates with. The actress who played Lucy in "Trailer Park Boys" says that she was one of his victims. In the last few days it was also revealed that Carlton University wouldn't send their students to intern on "Q".
