do you ride like this?

i ran across a video on youtube. its a vid of a biker crashing his bike and i think he dies. he is suicidal, but appears he has pretty good skill up until the end. do you guys drive like this? or is this a very rare case of a guy being a complete idiot on a mission to die? here is the link...
pay attention to 1:05-1:10

TYEster 03-14-2012 08:47 AM

This is a classic case of idiots, it's a shame the guy died, but riding like that will get you the same consequence. And no one will think you're cool either.

There's no skill in avoiding vehicles as you race by them, that should just be common sense in ANY vehicle operation. Obey the laws of the road(they exist for a reason) and take the crazy riding to the track where it's taught in a structured manner.

RACER X 03-14-2012 08:53 AM

there are plenty of idiots out there that ride like this, and there are plenty out there that don't

kinda like asking do all HD riders drink and ride?

what a crock o shit for lawyers, its obvious, at 1 point he says they were going 160mph, but the speeds they were passing cars was def. not 2x their speed, but if you convert kph to mph, 160kph= 100mph which looks right for the vid.

askmrjesus 03-14-2012 09:02 AM

Dying is not a skill, any idiot can do it.

Bad bad target fixation

OneSickPsycho 03-14-2012 09:59 AM

All I know is that if I'm shopping for a new camera, I want whatever this guy had... Note that it does doesn't skip or fuck up on impact at all... Awesome quality.

Switch 03-14-2012 10:48 AM

That's KPH right?

RACER X 03-14-2012 10:49 AM

according to the lawyer it was MPH. i don't think it was.

It certainly didn't look like MPH, especially when he was passing other cars at like 160, and he wasn't flying by them.

playtowinthegame 03-14-2012 11:36 AM

i think the speed is legit in mph, cuz at his low speed of around 120, he is still flying by cars. and that is a highway, so the other cars are doing about 60-80. and 120 kph is equal to about 80 mph. so that wouldnt make sense if that were the case.

RACER X 03-14-2012 11:58 AM

but at his high which is 158, he's not going nearly 2x the flow of traffic, and thats IF they were going 80, which i doubt.

askmrjesus 03-14-2012 12:43 PM

Dude was in Connecticut, not France. Why would his speedo be in KPH?

Either way, what fucking difference does it make? He was clearly riding like an idiot, and the chick on the back is lucky to be alive.

What a putz.

Holy shit, those guys looked like they were gonna wreck at any time, I saw a few close calls, let alone the 1:10 part where his buddy almost took him out, and you don't see what the others behind them are doing until they pass. A bunch of fools, I don't think they were trying to commit suicide, but they were acting in a manner that eventually brought about that outcome

OneSickPsycho 03-14-2012 01:03 PM

Reminds me of that guy from Turkey or whatever on the CBR board... remember that?

Rangerscott 03-14-2012 01:22 PM

The more stupid people are the more they record. Cops probably love the hell out of it.

The bike slid when it hit the ground...If it flipped over Im sure the outcome of the video feed would be different.

I'm sure... Bit I've seen plenty of crash videos of lowsides where the camera flakes our for a second or two upon impact...

Rangerscott 03-14-2012 11:22 PM

What bike is that?

How long have you been riding and you still don't know motorcycle speedo's are notoriously inaccurate at high speeds? If his speedo so 160's and he hadn't messed with the gearing on his bike, he was probably running high 130's or low 140's. Drop a tooth on the front sprocket or go up any teeth in the rear sprocket and it gets even worse.

Agreed, but given the speed with those cars I doubt he was up that high. Plus the lawyers had to play it up for added shock value to show they got their client all this money.

UM YEAH, in this day and age, you can push a button and convert to kph, i can on my bike. and it'll also convert the F to C.

I know people who have done it for track day vids too. Douchers mainly. I will see if I can find one.

Sixxxxer 03-15-2012 07:53 PM

You do realize that Speed is not accurately portrayed by objects in sight right?

Airplanes for example, They dont look like there going 600 Miles an hour...Whether your IN one or looking at one from the ground.

Same thing in a car...Or on a bike...Speed is not something you can judge with the camera angle of this video.

Sigh.

Point being, posting a pic of the gauge reading in MPH, doesn't exactly help your argument.

Sixxxxer 03-16-2012 11:41 PM

I dont know why everyone thinks he wasnt going over 140...Because the Video looks slow?

Do planes look like there flying at 600 MPH?

Amber Lamps 03-17-2012 01:17 AM

Well, I for one can't say that I haven't ridden in a similar manner AND I seem to remember several crazy double line/blind corner passes riding with some of you... The main problem I have with this guy's behavior, is his willingness to endanger a passenger. Although, I've also done some of that as well.... Oh well, I guess I won't be throwing any stones since I too have engaged in dangerous/idiotic behavior myself. After all, I have a glass house to protect.

I do agree with OSP about the camera.... Hopefully, it's a GoPro HD.:boobs:

The pass at 1:08 is hilarious

Typical NY area lawyer though......From 0:37 to 1:30 he says absolutely nothing other than "we acquired the videotape"....No shit sherlock, we're watching it right now. And what's with the hair?.....Does he think it's the early 80's?

Oh, and you pay $15K for a Ducati and they don't even give you a shift indicator? Wack.

playtowinthegame 03-20-2012 05:30 PM

how is the pass at 108 hilarious?? I think its crazy and suicidal
