POTM's Future Poll

POTM is up for a revamp. Participation sucks. 3 Options.

Keep it as it
Change it
Kill it

If you vote change plz explain how/what you would change.

This is your chance. Fuckerz.

I wonder if participation just happens to be low due to the recent cold snap. Granted, you would think people in the southern states would step up during the winter, but maybe people are getting bored with it.

I liked the idea you had set up where someone would post a specific idea (ie, pic of your bike in front of a waterfall), then whoever was first to get that pic would come up with something else. Unfortunately, that failed miserably. The "themed" pic of the month was okay, but unfortunately, some of us aren't very creative, so that also failed.

Even though both of those failed, I still have to wonder if some combination of the two could work for POTM. For example, the rules could be:

Original thread starter comes up with a theme (ie. pic of your bike in front of a waterfall)
First person to post said pic comes up with a new theme, however, people are still allowed to post pics of the original theme, or ANY theme posted in the thread by the first person to meet the previous theme.
At the end of the month, all the pics in the thread are voted on for pic of the month. Each thread runs from the first day of the month, through the last day of the month. Voting occurs during the first 5 days of the following month.
Anyone can start the new picture thread on the first day of the new month.

Also, while I understand the reasoning behind pics having to be taken that month, maybe allow pics taken any time during the prior 6 months. That would help keep pics flowing throughout the winter months.

On top of that, maybe have a "pic of the year" from all of the previous years' winners.

i know for me the cold snap killed my ambitions to ride

i look forward to PoTM and cant wait to see the applicants, i rode almost nill last year and thus had that many pics to show for it

this year i am riding more and def getting more pics

Get rid of the taken during that month rule, I know most people here have great photos that they have built up, why not share those?

i disagree with the wej

it makes it more relative to have them taken during that month, gives everyone a fair chance and keeps it fun

Participation is the problem. There's very little. Even in the warmer months.

Yea it's a popularity contest and not a pic contest anyway. No one cares about the pics content, the scene, etc. This month someone will probably win simply because they are popular with a portion of the forum or because they are wearing a revealing outfit and has bolt on tits. There's absolutely nothing "artistic" or interesting about the shot what so ever.:idk: On the other hand, if you still want to cater to the 5 or 6 members that regularly submit to it and the 20 or so members that might vote, go for it. It's your time after all.

I think its 50/50...Sometimes is bc of a certain memeber who posts...othertimes a good picture does win.

But i look at it from the composition of it the quality and the overall content.

But I think you should keep it around...Maybe have more incentive to do it though...Maybe Trip could send the winner a decal of there choice, I dunno just a thought. I know we arent a huge forum and all but on a car forum im on stuff like that gets rewarded for the pictures.

how bout ya'll send me money and then we can talk about it. I don't ask for donations, I am fine with what I pay to keep this place running, but since we have few sponsors, I can't do everything.

I think the voting should be anominous, don't say who took the picture or who submit it. I know we may figure it out, but it might make it closer
