textile jackets
How do the jackets some of you have hold up in the rain. I rode to work today in a light mist and a lot of roadspray and my coretech jacket did a prety weak job. Water got soaked through at the elbows and a fair bit on my lower stomach. I have ridden with it in heavier rain before and it did ok but it def failed me today. Plus its an excuse to buy me a new textile jacket for the winter ;)

Rev-it textile suit works great...

Francois at dual sport touring has this epic textile jacket. It has no liner. It is a weird material that opens to let air in when your body gets hot and closes when it is raining to keep water out. Francois and Megan both use them. They love em.

the stich seems to hold up well worn the weak point being the zippers and neck. My frieldsheer is also pretty good, as long as I remember to close the vents, only time I got wet in that was during rain that was bad enough to forever people over to thee shoulder, and even then it took over am hour to get wet.
I do get that damp feeling no matter what, but always attribute it to just being really moist air |
I have worn these in everything from pouring rain (like can't see shit pouring rain) to slushy snowstorms and have stayed bone dry underneath.
Icon Patrol Waterproof Gloves Tourmaster Transition Series 2 Jacket Tourmaster Caliber Pants Sidi Crossfire SRS Boots (probably won't help you street guys much, but there are lots of waterproof boot options) |
Good luck - my Alter Ego gear does a decent job but that's mostly because I soaked the piss out of it with Camp Dry

My first gear stuff is waterproof and does a great job. Rode back from last years rally in a torential downpour and didn't have any problems.

My Joe Rocket mesh absorbs water like a sponge, but the liner (when I put it in) keeps me dry. The wife's JR textile will keep her dry for a short jaunt if its not raining hard.
