Central Rally 2011 - Eureka Springs, RESERVE and Confirm now!!

Ok folks. Those of you interested should check out www.eurekasprings.org and think about what you would like to do and when you would like to do it. All the attractions are linked there and I am doing some research on possible motels/lodgings we can use and abuse. The website has a calender to help us dodge the crazy spring festivals and hit a low traffic period so we can have the place to ourselves.

I have been looking at NW AR dual sport trails, know of plenty of highway loops, and will no doubt be able to color in all the details as winter crushes in on my riding time. Eureka and the surrounding areas have a ton of great attractions and I will post up some links as I find them...

What is everyone up for? Who can make it and when? Discuss!

tommymac 10-25-2010 04:18 PM

I am a maybe, I would prolly have to factor in 2 days of travel time so that may be a problem plus withthe baby on the way, not sure can disappear for 5 or 6 days.

smileyman 10-25-2010 05:00 PM

When is the due date Tommy? This might be the time to beg off, as the next 3-4 years will be hard to pull yourself away...

jan 11th. She seems to be ok with me still doing trackdays and trips but will obviously have to scale back.

t-homo 10-25-2010 06:44 PM

I'm in for whenever.

Cutty72 10-25-2010 08:10 PM

I'd like to, depends on what job I'm at then, and how fundage is looking.

I understand completely. I never left mine. He was at the track with me. Fed him bottles between sessions in my leathers, pulled his stroller around with me storing tire warmers underneath, works great for heating formula.

Thats what she says now. You'll be singing a different tune come Jan 12, guy.

G-Rex 10-25-2010 10:41 PM

Eureka Springs is 3 hours from me. Of course I'll be there.

I'm down for whenever. :D

KSGregman 10-25-2010 10:58 PM

I'll ride down for it...I go down to Arkansas at least a couple of times a season....fun roads all over down there!

derf 10-25-2010 11:17 PM

99% sure that I'm out, 1100 miles each way for a short weekend might be a little to much for me.

Mr Lefty 10-26-2010 12:59 AM

I should be in... it's a long day one way... so no big deal... just can't promise anything with the Labrador trip in Sept.

HokieDNA01 10-26-2010 01:14 AM

I might be in. Eureka springs is awesome.

I'm definitely interested, will have to see when it gets closer if I can swing it.

Gas Man 10-27-2010 11:20 PM

14.5hrs for me... so 1.5 day to get there.

I think it would be cool if we could do day trips to KS & OK.

When in the spring are we thinking?

The terrain in KS and OK looks like this: __________________________________

smileyman 10-29-2010 10:16 AM

Actually the Talhemina Trail thru NE and E OK is pretty cool. Goes right by the Cherokee Casino too if your into that sorta thing.
I have scoped some rides to S MO to Branson and over to Peel's Ferry then back into Extreme NW AR, and another great route thru Jasper to Hwy 123 and 7.. Cant get to Arkansas without seeing Hwy 23, the Pig Trail either. I could keep you guys on bikes 11 hours a day.

smileyman 10-29-2010 10:19 AM

And as for the date, we need to look for a date before school lets out, maybe dodging Spring break. I was checking weekends from March 26 thru about May 14th. You guys check your schedules. Obviously March is still fairly cold and rainy...

t-homo 10-29-2010 05:34 PM

Why so early? I vote for first weekend of may. might even have some vacation built up by then so i can make it for more than just the weekend.

smileyman 10-29-2010 10:07 PM

May is always a great month. You got Cinco de Mayo, my B-day is the sixth, Memorial Day on the 31st...

and mine on the 3rd... Tigger's is some where in there too...

caveman 10-30-2010 12:28 AM

I don't know about what it will be like down there, but anytime you want to have a gathering on or around Memorial day is a bad idea. Too overcrowded. i am down too just gotta get some dates locked in for work and planning around for the kids. The wifey may want to make an excursion to one of the trips if I am gonna be going to Eureka in the spring and Little Switzerland in the fall.

Gas Man 10-30-2010 01:39 AM

May 14th weekend?

smileyman 10-30-2010 09:20 AM

Unless I change jobs or something unfortunate happens, and bother we are talking about my luck here, I can do almost any weekend.

You wanna stay in the 'haunted' Crescent Hotel? Dunno how bike friendly it is...

G-Rex 10-30-2010 09:31 AM

I'm good for any weekend since it is, well, very close to me. :D

Heck, I won't even need to take any time off work for once. LOL

Mr Lefty 10-30-2010 09:48 AM

mid may is probably bad for me... we have had the Special Olympics around the 15th of may the last two years (can't speak before that wasn't here) so I imagine I'll have to compete.. I mean setup for it again. all leave is pre-denied.

what about the same time frame we normally do it... first weekend in June?

smileyman 10-30-2010 11:51 AM

Cause Spring in Arkansas isnt in June, Duh!

Actually it really shouldnt matter a rally is a rally. Only those planning on making both would be put off. That and school being out will mean Arkansas camping and tourism picking up the traffic a bit. I still think First weekend of May would be good...

t-homo 10-30-2010 02:14 PM

Honestly, I can make any weekend so it isn't a big deal when it is to me.

Mr Lefty 10-30-2010 05:18 PM

well if it's early in May I can probably do it... just not mid may... but honestly I won't know until April for sure

Gas Man 10-30-2010 07:57 PM

What about heat & humidity in June? That might be ruffer.

Gas just wants to get more stickers for his windscreen. Thats why he wants to hit NE and OK. Flat or not, one toe in or one mile in, he isn't picky.

Wont it be warmer down south there in late march and april? But I agree early May would be good.

March is typically rainy season, April is still a touch chilly but not bad. Humidity isnt to bad in Eureka. It is higher altitude than most of Arkansas.
The Crescent Hotel in Eureka has been on several TV programs for being haunted. They have tours and you can request the most haunted rooms.

Gas Man 10-30-2010 11:10 PM

I'll take the least haunted room plz

t-homo 10-31-2010 02:13 AM

uhh, spring break is mid march. middle of may is when school is getting out.

Is this a hotel? or a motel? Prefer motel types as you are on the ground level and can keep an eye on the rides.

smileyman 11-01-2010 10:00 AM

It was just a Halloween point of interest. It is a hotel and probably not the most motorcycle friendly, but would still be good fun. I am on the lookout for lodge style accomodations either in or immediately surrounding Eureka. It really is a motorcycle friendly community. I am going to ride over and spec it out soon as I replace the Buells battery...

Trip 11-04-2010 07:05 PM

Let me know when you get a date and I will post it on facebook.

smileyman 11-05-2010 12:24 PM

Chime in folks that wanna come for sure, I will check on some lodging availabilty and post links to their site or pics.

caveman 11-11-2010 06:23 AM

again depending on dates and getting them early enough to submit for vacation days.

t-homo 11-11-2010 08:59 AM

Then we should just pick a date and stick with it. How does the first weekend of May sound? May 7-8 are Sat and Sun.

smileyman 11-11-2010 05:53 PM

7-8 are good for me. Anyone else?

Gas Man 11-11-2010 09:39 PM

If I can get those dates off of work I can do that.

That works fine for me also!

t-homo 11-12-2010 08:03 AM

Sounds like we've got a date set if you want to put it in stone smiley. No use trying to figure out what weekends people can and can't go because it will never work out for every person.

KSGregman 11-12-2010 11:24 AM

I'm good with the first week-end of May. :dthumb:

Cass 11-12-2010 06:25 PM

There's a Best Western on 62, a mile or 2 east of the bavarian place... the BW is (or was) really motorcycle friendly. My Dallas group based a rally out of there several times. They moved to basing out of somewhere a little closer to 40 in the past few years though.

The other thing to keep in mind when you start talking early May... Mothers Day... just as an FYI, for those that are married or have small people in the oven.

Spring break shouldn't be an issue though :)

smileyman 11-12-2010 08:56 PM

Thanks for the tip Cass! Mothers day was May 9 last year, or the second Sunday. That may make May 8th this year mothers day. That wouldnt necesaarily kill it but...

Who would have a conflict with the next weekend? Friday the 12- Sun the 14th? If that ruffles too many favors the 7-8 it will be.

Damn, that works so well for me, its sick. You will love this Gas, those dates are right in the middle of a 7 off for me. hahaha I love this job. I won't even have to take vacation for this trip, unless I want to have two weeks off and really get some good riding in while I'm down there. Perhaps, Gas, we could make a pretty decent length trip of this. Man, this will be an awesome trip.:rockwoot:

smileyman 11-12-2010 10:39 PM

The Buell has a new battery, good regulator/rectifier, fresh oil, and good tires. I will check lodgings for rates, thanks again Cass, you coming?

Those who are down early can do Cinco De Mayo Thursday, My Birthday Friday, and then party all weekend on 2!

Gas Man 11-13-2010 06:55 AM

Actually the woman likes green on me... turns my eye green. Yes they change colors.

t-homo 11-14-2010 08:11 PM

I might try to take friday off. Ride down to springfield, mo for cinco de mayo, then ride down to meet up on friday, get some good roads in between, and be ready for the rally.

Porkchop 11-15-2010 05:02 PM

I'd be in, as long as im for sure not out west by then.

Rangerscott 11-17-2010 11:07 PM

10 hour ride. I'm in. I'll try to get a 4 day weekend. Leave early friday morning, get there around 5pm. Then be able to leave monday morning.

I really need to know if this is set in stone. I'm going to really hassle my boss on getting vacation time this year.

smileyman 11-19-2010 05:55 PM

everyone check out Eurekabw.com the Best Western in E.S. AR. This looks like the place. I will see about rates for groups. What is our head count to now? 7 confirmed?

Rangerscott 11-20-2010 01:22 AM

I'm a maybe. Its still on for May 7-8?

smileyman 11-20-2010 11:39 AM

Yup. It conflicts with mothers day sunday but i am trying to bring my baby momma along anyhow. Friday night, saturday night, home sunday anyhow.

If this Best Western is out of the price range I have a back up spot to check out that is around 40 bucks a night, but most folks splitting rooms should be happier with these accomodations.

Rangerscott 11-20-2010 02:45 PM

Ok. Ill get wih my coworker and hve a sit down with the boss. I'll try to get off wed to next wed for a full week off.

Ill share a room as long as we can spoon.

Since I don't know who you are considering confirmed, I'll throw my name in for a solid yes, but only if I get to try out the 1125R! :D

smileyman 11-20-2010 10:02 PM

No one touches Big Red. I'd rather spoon! J/K. I am sure it would show you a good time!

KSGregman 11-21-2010 02:21 AM

I'll be there.

Amorok 11-27-2010 12:18 PM

Count me in, I can make it.

smileyman 11-27-2010 07:57 PM

Kewl! Is everyone OK with the Best Wetern?? if so will call and barter for reduced group rates?

t-homo 11-27-2010 11:46 PM

I'm in for sure. Best western is good. better than a shitty hotel like we have run into in the past. rangerscott, i believe you need to room with kbubp or NTS.

Rangerscott 11-28-2010 01:24 AM

I'll room with who ever will put cream on my open sores. Also, I sleep nude so gila monster is off his leash. I can also pitch a mean tent so if any of the ladies need a place to sleep I got that covered.

Cass 11-30-2010 06:15 PM

dunno if i'll be in - will depend on a lot of things. sidenote though, I WAS in eureka springs last week ....though in a cage instead of on teh bike. flew up to the 'rents, couldn't exactly check the SV at the gate

i will say now that if I go, i'll either have a room for me and teh blonde, or I/we will split with G-Rex. I don't know any of the rest of you fukrs that well.

(ps - trace, is that cool?)

tommymac 11-30-2010 06:36 PM

Will be a tough call for me. I will prolly be going back to work in march and will loose out on some accumulated vacation time so between that and taking off for a week to leave the mrs with a newborn may be a bit much.

The fall trip I am like 99% for since I can make it there in a day. For Ak I would prolly make it a 2 day trip each way.

smileyman 11-30-2010 09:20 PM

Just send us a full size pic Tommy. We'll blow it up and pose you appropriately. That way you can be in two places at once!

We may be up for it. Havent talked to the hubby, but I need to make a trip out there to visit family in Stillwater, OK, and since it looks as tho we'll be postponing the honeymoon another year, we might be able to make it work.

I won't know until it gets close to rally time. My issue is funds (still), if I have the money I'll be there.

I emailed the motel website but got no response, so I rode to Eureka yesterday to recon. Unfortunately I got so busy riding and reveling at the Pig Train Saloon that I didnt stop at the motel. I apologize, will try again Monday...

So basically you became selfish and decided against our rally recon. I understand.
