Almost full Monti

So for my 4th of July weekend I took a ride out to Monticello NY and rode with Team ProMotion. We did the North course on day 1, and the 66 course on day 2. Had a great time!

This event was supposed to be the FIRST track day in about 5 YEARS that i was riding purely as a customer, but when I got to the hotel Saturday night I was promptly informed that they were putting me to work :skep: But TPM takes a much more "hands off" approach to instruction & management of their staff than what I'm normally accustomed to, so I was pretty much free to ride & do whatever I wanted as long as I was professional and courteous to everyone else on the track. :) It was also very interesting to see how other organizations operate and compare that to how we normally run our events. I felt almost as if I was spying :p

The track is definitely a little tight, both in track width and as far as run-off goes, however I had little to no comfort issues with riding up to about 90-95% and would have no issues with riding there again in the future.... I certainly wouldn't wanna race there, though. It could get sketchy really quick at full out race pace, however I think it's plenty safe enough for even the fastest of track day riders, provided they give themselves an appropriate margin of safety and ride without exceeding their limits.

Anyway, it was a fun track! Like I said, we did the North course on day one, 66 on day two. Both were nice and technical in places with a lot of elevation changes. Challenging enough for the most experienced riders but forgiving enough for those that are newer to the track scene. All in all I had a pretty good time!:rockwoot:

Sounds like you had a good time. It is a bit weird riding with different organizations, isn't it?

Yeh, it was a little different :p

It was neat though. I learned a lot about what we're doing right & a little about what we can do better.

It was also neat to see how organizations tailor their events towards a different audience.
At TTD we get a LOT more street riders on their street bikes, including sport tourers, adventure bikes, etc.
At TPM, they get a LOT more track riders/racers with dedicated track bikes.

bad track day is better than a good work day for sure...

Ain't that the truth...

But who said anything about a bad track day? :D
