SAN ANTONIO - Police on the West Side say a baby was thrown out of an SUV. The year-and-a-half-old baby boy is said to be in stable condition at University Hospital.
Police received a call Saturday night around 11:30 for a baby on 30th and Cordelia Street. Two witnesses told police they saw a white SUV pull up. A women got out, opened the back door and threw something out. Then she took off.
At that point witnesses went to see what was dropped out of the car. They walked up and saw it was a young child. The child was crying and they called for medical assistance.
As the baby was getting help, the mother was found nearby screaming that her baby had been stolen. Police say her story did not add up.
At this time she is not facing charges, but police continue to investigate. Child Protective Services is also investigating and are planning to make regular visits to the baby's home.
The baby is at University Hospital with scrapes to his face.
