How hard is it to put this in the software? If you are already monitoring the brake pedal switch input and master cylinder pressure it makes logical sense for nothing more than component logevity. GM went to engine controller starting because they has so many warranty claims for faulty starters that would overheat because people would continue to crank the engine after it started or would hold the starter for minutes if the engine would not start.
Though, you can't brake torque the transmission unless you have a scan tool function override. Again another software fix. Easy.
