I'm still thinking about getting me a Duck. But it will have to be the aircooled Desmodue though. For some reasons I can't get into the Desmoquattro or the Testastretta liquid cooled engines. Yep, getting a Duck is definitely way low on my list of things to do but maybe one of these days.

I a perfect world an ST3 for commuting, an 848 for track/racing and a 1098 for weekends...Of course I can't afford to even do the maintenance on all that, so I will have to make a jap inline 4 carry the whole load.

Same looks as the 999? Um...have you seen an 848? The maintenance costs are "60%" lower than previous year Ducati Superbikes. I only said that because I rode an 848 a little while ago and fell in love with the way the ergos set you up for agressive riding.

Here's the *rub* with that.... most of the other Ducatis have interchangeable parts. Meaning, dry clutch is a dry clutch - there are just different plates... but the dry clutch from my 1994 monster can be pulled and put into either of my 2002's (7 or 9). Many of the other parts and sensors can do that. With the 848 you can't do that

Though, you're right. It looks nothing like the 999. Maybe a modern look to the 998.

I don't like buying used. New with a fat warranty is all I need.

We scored the 748 - we rescued it from the standard Ducati coffee-commuter that the previous owner made it into.

i gotta get more clear on things i say, i was comparing it to the 1098 at the start and then finished by saying that a used 999 was going to be a better deal. the last few reviews i read were, well scathing.

I like the look of the 999/749 over the 1098/848. At least the 999 is very distinctive and doesn't have the R1 headlight of the 1098. Not only that but so far I have yet to hear anybody rave about the handling of the 1090/848.

If prices on the 999 is low enough, I might consider get one and convert it to a street fighter.

dont you buy a new bike every month or so though? seems like it sometimes.
