As I have stated before... I needed to get the owner to cough up any money on the project. The owner is my buddy, Sgt's, friend. Well the owner decided he didn't want to put any money into it... so we put it back together. The work that was done may have been in vein, but could be picked up where it was left off. BUt till then... it sits all empty and drained of life... so sad...

Now onward to bikes that make progress...

After I got measurements on the Primo clutch pack in Chopper Nick's AIH. I was even more pushed away from the idea of the clutch itself being the problem. Went back to some of the other components. Ball ramp good. BUt then once I cleaned it up a bit and at the suggestion of some other guys I went at the throw out bearing. It looked ruff, but didn't realize how bad till we got it apart!!!

WOW!!!

There is suppose to be very small needle bearings in there

That's ok... a $8 part and that is fixed

Obvoiusly buttoned the primary all back up

Got the rod back in and the ball ramp back on

Adjusted it and it seemed better. To me, still not 100%. Will take it for a test ride once we get the ignition replaced. If not the ends of the clutch rods are worn a bit... and this will be the next attack.

So the ignition that we were hoping to get in from FedEx today, wasn't in... but no reason we couldn't get a jump start (no pun intended)...

Pull the rear wheel

Rear axle and spacers... always worth noting their correct position (also note the lack of dirt and sand on the lift)

Removed the rear wheel to gain access to where AIH put the ignition. Yep on the front of the rear splash gaurd. Just out of reach of getting to it from above the tranny.

$138 + S&H for this thing

But damn... look at all the dirt and sand that came out from behind the ignition... no wonder it went to shit, cause you know water took it up there!!

All ready for the new ignition and more miles

I can't believe that owner won't throw a few bucks at that bike to get it going... shit it's just a couple fluids and a couple 20 dollar ebay specials... what a waste. Maybe you should buy it from him for a fair price minus your labor/time GM

And SHIT that bearing was FUCKED!!!

I thought about that idea CEO... but not sure I want to deal with it... and lord knows since the bike is some family passed item, where the title is.

Cmon... for cheap money there's something to be said for having a nice beater bike to ride around.

I may end up with something similar by next year when the R6 ends up as as racebike... which is quite possible.

key word.

i could see u on a cafe'ed or streetfightered cb750 or kz1000/750, but those are older than this bike. but those shitty carbs, weak ass engine, not worth the money u would put in it to make sure it never stops on u.

The honest truth on that particular bike is it needs a new set of carbs or at least a carb rebuild kit, new front calipers and maybe some new brake pads. That is just at first glance without riding it or truely getting into it. For me to even consider riding it anywhere.

I'm tellin ya... the variety is increasing or just another way to show how good it is to have the 4' x 10' steel work bench.

The next door neighbor's kid's b-day present for this weekend. An electric powered yamaha rhino. Its way cool as far as kid toys go. We put it together and storing it over here till this weekend for the party.

Even covered it up so the kid don't see it when my garage door is open
