OK, I'm bored so I'll post up my resume.
Riding since I was a kid, mostly ATV's and some dirtbikes. Got licensed (MSF Course) in '01. Riding street since then. I did my first trackday in Oct, '06 at JGP. I earned my AHRMA race license in March of '07 (never recieved it, I don't have a bike that I can run in AHRMA, so I didn't bother), I became an MSF ridercoach in early September '07. I would estimate I have done about 20 trackdays give or take, all at Jennings GP (personal best, 1:29.8) and Barber Motorsports Park (1:55.9). I am leaving tomorrow to do a trackday at Barber on Saturday. |

No, you only go through the tunnel to get into the infield. There are actually 2 road courses at Pocono that are inside the tri-oval. I've only done the "east" course. Part of it goes down the backstretch that the NASCAR stock cars run on. I haven't ridden any other tracks to compare, but Pocono is flat, pretty narrow, many areas of poor pavement, and no reference points. I can't complain about the fact that it's only 40 minutes away, though!

I voted no, but since everyone is discussing I will as well.
I have been riding for about 3 months and I will probably be off traveling for 5 or 6 months while the bike is put in storage. When I get home and settle in a post graduate job I will be looking to track the bike. My experience with Mustangs was that running around the street is fun, but going to something a simple as a drag strip was more fun just because you can challenge yourself against the clock. Perfecting the launch, the suspension and the driving in a 1/4 mile can be tough work. The car isn't setup for auto x, but I always thought it would be fun. Once I have decent cash flow I expect to be track whoring and learning how to push myself and the machine a bit faster each time. |

What are these "elevation changes" you speak of? Is the whole world not as flat a Florida?? I'd kill to get some time on an elevated track, heard its badass... |

I've done a few, but it only took one day to "open my eyes".

Come up to Grattan in Michigan - Road & Track and Motortrend do testing there - very technical track with alot of elevation changes.. In July there is a Susan B. Komen Trackday for $100.. Mid-Ohio is another good one for elevation changes..

Plus, Pocono has mainly left-hand turns. I came home from my last track day with no chicken strips on the left side of the tire, and the nubblies were still on the right side!
