It's an imperial stout blended with an IPA... Stored together for several months in an oak barrel...

This is a blended beer that we've been brewing for the past several years and it's recently been gaining in popularity.

For Burton Baton we first brew two 'threads' or batches of beer: an English-style Old Ale and an Imperial IPA. After fementating the separate beers in our stainless tanks, the two are transferred and blended together in one of our large oak tanks. Burton Baton sits on the wood for about a month.

When enjoying the Burton Baton, you'll find an awesome blend of the citrus notes from Northwestern hops melding with woody, vanilla notes from the oak. The wood also tends to mellow the 10% of the beer - so tread cautiously!

Burton Baton is brewed and released three times per year.

I wonder if the barrels were first used for whiskey or soemthing else. innis and Gunn (I think thats their name) does that and its soem interesting beers. I found them ok but my wife realy liked them so now we got a bunch of bombers sitting around since she cant drink them till june

I will look for this beer on saturday when I hit up my distributor.

I will say this... you gotta REALLY like IPA's to like this beer... it's very hoppy... ONSSP likes a taste of some of my IPA's from time to time, but she couldn't handle this one... In fact, my first taste nearly knocked me out of my seat and everyone with me said I had a look of horror and disgust. I certainly wasn't prepared for all of that flavor... 2nd taste was pure heaven... ended up drinking three of them.
