Absolutely, this is a taser's intended purpose. This man was committing a dangerous crime that puts the pubilc at risk of injury or death and needed to be subdued. The officer, who was clearly larger and stronger, would most likely have put himself and the subject at greater risk by engaging in a fist fight.

However, what we see time and time again is lazy, out-of-shape and sometimes cowardly peace officers using taser in place of physical confrontation in ludicrous situations.

I won't argue that abuse isn't a problem, but I'd rather the police have them than not.

I saw a guy get tazered last night... it was awesome. There were like 6 cops around him and he was getting tazered and attacking another cop. The tazer seemed to be more of an annoyance, but they did end up taking his ass down HARD.

Interesting... the end of this video is talking about the elementary school around the corner from my house... I could walk there if I wasn't so fat and it wasn't 95º with 100% humidity.
