I just dont get this whole story. ok, it was cool that someone found a motorcycle and was able to identify the owner and that the owner survived. But why even bother going through the trouble? I can't see too much of that bike being worth it to keep or even restore. At best it would be cool for Harley or some dealership to have it display somewhere, but if the owner is going to try to get it back to useable condition, that is probably going to cost more than its worth new. I just don't see anything on that bike that can be left and still in decent shape. Saltwater fucks shit up, and it spent a year floating in salt water.

I am correcting myself, Harley will restore it themself. But yes, I agree most of it will be replaced.

It's hard to imagine the effect a wall of water sweeping all your possession away would have on you. If I were unfortunate enough to live through something like that and a year later one of my prized possessions washed up in another country, I would probably be eager to get it back and rebuild it, too. That bike probably holds some connection to his past that he can relive through very few things now.

Perhaps even rides with family members, who died in the tsunami.
