Yep, I've always wanted to do it. I'll be shopping for a KLR this fall, outfitting it this fall/winter/spring and saving up the $$$ and then making the trip, hopefully in March or April, so the weather is nicer for camping.

shit that'd be a hell of a ride from Anchorage! that haul road is no joke... gravel as big as your fist... truckers OWN the road... and they will litterally run you over if you don't move... even if you DO move.. the rarely give you room to stay on the road... INTENSE!
I'd definatly start researching more into the roads in AK if you haven't already... and invest in a couple sets of good tires |

it can be... but I'd be more worried about Truck than bears... bears can be scared away... and or stopped with a sidearm... truck however
