as for switching... I ride the SV sometimes still. I keep trying to twist the throttle past the stop lookin for more after getting off the buell.

For mileage, I was getting low 40's with it.
Comonboys is a bit gentler with her riding style, and it getting higher 40's.

How is the RC so maintenance intensive?? Other than gas and tires?

Not sure how an SV will wear tires, had the stockers on there till now (12K) and putting roads on as we speak.

IMO switching to an SV... you would get by, but you would miss the hp and shear grunt of the RC

So then you stand about like this, on a scale of 1-10

Gas mileage -> +5

Tire life -> +9 (roughly double)

Insurance cost -> ????

Fun factor -> -5

Cool sound -> -2

It's all on you.

I would have a hard time going back to my SV full time after riding the Buell.
But then again, this is ND, and twisties are lacking, so brute HP is a definate bonus.

heard they were heavier and not that much faster then the 650, plus if i was going to go for the sv1000, why not just keep the rc?
Taking gigantic man-cock in your ass on a regular basis... calling girls 'boys' in class and whatnot... that's what makes you gay. That being said, if you get an SV1k before I do I am going to kick you in the throat.

And the SV1k should be signifcantly faster than the SV650... It's got like 45 more HP!

Kyle's bike is probably the one Drewpy is looking at. It's light years beyond the gixxer suspension setup. Traxxion front and penske rear shock is about as good as you can get suspension wise, besides maybe a ohlins rear keeping the same traxxion front. The bike doesn't need better brakes, it's a SV, they work good enough because with that bike you really don't need them.

If you lived closer to the gap where the drop in power wouldn't be an issue I would say go for it, but you don't. You live in sweeper land, if you want to keep riding fast you probably are going to crave something more powerful. If you want a fun commuter bike, that will also carve the shit out of some tight twisties, the Kyle's SV is #1.

What's wrong with a SV1000?
