Default A sign of a???

Is changing speakers in your motorcycle a sign of a

Luxury bike?
Old man's bike?
Pimp bike?
Rockin bike?

Not sure...

But either way, the stock speakers weren't very clear, and got all mushy/distorted when cranked up real high.

So the boys and girls at HogTunes.com have the solution to my dilemma. They offer new front speakers, new rear speakers, lower glove box speakers, top of dash tweaters, amps... the works. All interchangeable and you can just keep adding, adding, adding, adding... All plug n play with 20yr warrenties. All specifically designed for the hogs.

For me it was just a new set of front speakers. The rears aren't on the bike anymore and I don't want to add more on so no gloves box or tweats. Let's just see what the new fronts sound like...

Out of Canada, they arrived just a few days after my order.

So time to get to work...

Prep the hog for work....

Get the outer fairing off and we find the stock HD speakers...

Well those suck

Comparo (Left: HD / Right: HogTunes)

You can even see that they upgraded the tweater

HogTunes:

All direct wired plug n play

Let me tell ya... they FUCKIN ROCK!!! The neighbor "kiddy corner" said she could hear them so well that she thought one of her kids had a radio on in the house. I CAN NOT WAIT to check them out on the road tomry!!!

Cause if you look at the pic of the front outer fairing gone, the spots stay. Well when you tip the fairing forward it will rub against the back of the spots. That is a pre-caution to prevent scratching of the shiny goods!!

Nice. Just curious... Why not just go with some good car audio speakers?

My guess... weather.

Car speakers don't do well when they get wet.

You could use marine speakers though.

That and car speakers aren't designed to combate all the added sounds that a MC has.

Hope the new speakers work out well for you!

actually... any car audio speaker with a rubber surround and a poly or synthetic material for the cone would work just fine. there isn't much difference between marine and car audio these days when it comes to speakers... maybe a little more sealing on the back side. but where they're sitting in your bike... you'll be fine.

BUT... I did notice that your speakers are 2ohm... I'm thinking THAT is the reason they're so loud. check the resistance of the stock HD ones...

most Car Audio are 4ohm... some cases 8ohm (which is what home audio is) when running a lower ohm... (if I remember right... it's been 7 years since I sold and installed this shit) the speakers are gonna be louder or suck more power at the same volume...

for example take a car audio speaker that's 4ohm... hook it up in your house. it'll be louder at the same volume setting than an 8ohm home audio speaker.

looks good though.
