Yep But they could just eat it and pay starz more to offset there cost to provide the service to netflix...There stock took a hit when the starz deal was announced as going downhill.

I'm sure there going to work on something else...we'll see.

Netflix isnt appealing to me as it used to be thats for sure.

The big reason everybody got pissed off was because Netflix bumped the price without giving any reason why. They didn't add any value, they didn't incur any additional costs, they simply raised the price.

It was in the news I read that they were getting hit for a lot more in licensing fees. Me and Andrea are subscribers and get DVDs and streaming. I don't think people cared enough to actually find out what was going on or just going through hard times themselves and didn't really want to spend more money on something they already got for cheaper.

Yup, licensing fees went up big time. Netflix got a great deal years ago before steaming was mainstream, then everyone started to do it and the MPAA started to get greedy and ask for a shit ton if money.

I i'm in the group that is getting both steaming and dvd and $16/month just isn't worth it when I can get the same amount if content elsewhere either free from services like hulu or much cheaper from red box

Well its biz. They have to make money to pay bills, they can't pay bills with happiness.

At the end of the day. Profit profit profit. Without it, they go under, and how happy will customers, stock holders, and employees be then?

But what kills me is how short-sighted they are possibly being. What's better? Constantly raising prices while at the same time offering less to your customers and watching them leave you? Or (*gasp*) maybe taking a little less profit, which is still profit, slowing down your enormous growth, and holding on to your customers and keep looking for that opportunity to lower your operating costs to once again increase your profit margin? Seems to me, that would be a more viable option for long-term health of your company. But no one seems able to look past their arm's reach these days. Greed (especially that of the shareholders) keeps alot of companies in a reactionary mode instead of spending more energy on forward-thinking plans.

Just my $.02.

Ask Blockbuster how that attitude worked.

I don't get it to be honest. I have Netflix, it's different up here. It's basically the movies that make it to cable. I check through it, what I want is not there so I hit up torrents and have what I want within a few minutes. It's just too easy to get media these days, so nobody is willing to deal with the BS that comes with it.

It's a balance that is for sure. But I just think people need to be reminded that they need to make profit. That is always the primary goal of every company.
