Got some nice shots of derf

Made it to Tuggles Gap
for the night and the rest of the guys joined in.

This got me my 2 state stickers I needed (WV & VA)

My buddy Trip, that runs TwoWheelVinyl has some interesting sticker on the back of his bike. Is also where I got my state sticker setup.

Well we knew it was going to rain so, being the only people at the place, we came to one great idea. Put the bikes under the awning...

Friday...

It's the hands up contest... Tommy starts out

Derf is in the game

Trip says if you wear your rain gear like an old man it works better. It does work well telling everybody that you ride a BMW. LOL

A mushroom?

Maybe Trip ate some before he poked derf with his wood..... stick.

We passed this amazing piece of the BRP with this famous overpass, stopped for a break, and to make another picture pass. What do we see in the distance? Grandfather Mountain.

You'll see this again...

So I took Captain for a ride on the Ultra for some good pics. Shown in the slideshow below... but derf took pics of us... LOL

Capt's pics from my bike... do you see the bridge in the mountains?

Now on the above bridge...

We then made it to our motel... Big Lynn Lodge and OH THE VIEW.

The next morning (Saturday), the view is still great.

This day we went to grandfather mountain... The road going up was great and an excellent challenge for the clutch.

The whole crew made it up

And crossed the suspension bridge that sways a mile up

We discovered a few things...

Trip's boots are water proof

We are a motley looking group

And I don't like hiking in riding boots

The Grandfather Mt slide show (remember to reverse the order)

We found route 226A and it was amazing... putting us in Little Switz... it's a fun place.

Sunday, TurboGhost joined us as we all headed south, some to finish the BRP and other jaunting to the highway

We got stuck behind this goldwing with a trailer and his wife on her own... most of us got around, but Turbo Ghost got "stuck" behind which started my afternoon hell.

More of hell

I did use this slow cruise to take more BRP Scenery pics, shown in the slideshow below.
Just follow the light

After the split; Capt, Trip, and me made it to 6053' elevation

Why o why... an ipad for a camera... ridiculous!

Eventually completing the entire 469mile trek down the BRP

Thanks for joining me boys

A few pics on our way back to reality...

Trip

Capt

Gents

I crashed at a friends house in Maryville Sunday night, got a hot date there and headed back home Monday.

Ending odometer allowing me to roll 20k on my 09 HD FLHTCU

Total mileage (on my AWESOME new Zumo 650)

Here's the slideshow of the BRP scenery. It uploaded in reverse order, so click REVERSE ORDER to view slideshows in proper/correct order.

Great pics man! I meant to ask earlier how things went when you caught back up with Mr. Sunshine on his goldwing after we split-up!? Was he just as happy to see you the second time around? If I had another piston, I would have passed him!

Don't worry about razzin' on me! I can take it! (That's what she said!) I think I'll be back in that area again tomorrow actually! I've got a ride with some friends and they mentioned we might head that way.

I dont think its that hard to pass on the klr, but all passing maneuvers need to be planned and executed in advance of when you actually want to do it. For example, if you are passing someone after a long sweeper, give some space between you and the bike you are passing before the curve like 50 or so feet. then accelerate through the corner as hard as possible and start to pass while exiting the corner, when you also happen to have maximum visibility. Doing it this way will also allow you to suggest to the KLR that it might be time to slow down if there is a vehicle in the oncoming traffic lane.
