The cop was a nice guy, not sure if he was acting at the end because he knew he was on camera, but he didnt seem to act until that bit at the end. The camera man is a douche. He was asking for problems, and looking for trouble. He was looking to catch a cop on camera doing something wrong. Sure you have your rights, but cooperate with the fucking police officer. He asked you your name... fucking give it to him.

Read another way - Sure, you have rights, but make it easier for the cop and just abandon them. Why does he need to write down someones name just because he's legally carrying a firearm?

Instead of it looking like he was asking for a problem, it looks like the guy was just walking down the street, and these scared as shit soccer moms called him in because they're exactly the same people who willingly give up their rights and privacy in the name of a false sense of security, and he just took out his phone and hit record as he saw officers approaching him.

I don't understand why there are so many of these videos around lately. Just because the cop's got a badge and a funny looking uniform makes it ok for him to carry a weapon, but another guy who also has the proper training has to get hassled and have his hand held up as someone fondles his handgun?

Because if the dude walks into a convience store or some other public place and opens fire (however unlikely), the first question that'll be asked is "why didn't the cops investigate further and see this coming?" Hindsight is 20/20.

At the very least, the cop can file a report at the end of his shift that he talked to some dude named "Jeremy" on "X" street and found nothing amis. He's covering his ass and I can't blame him for that. Hell, he should teach other cops how to do what he just did because he handled it in the best possible way. As for people driving by, again, had "Jeremy" been some lunatic walking around with an axe to grind and folks had driven by and not at least had it checked out, what does that make them?

I agree with the earlier statement: the dude with the camera was just being a douche looking to catch a cop on camera doing something wrong so he could get his 5 minutes of fame on YT. Instead, he'll get his 5 minutes of fame from a cop who just did his job.

I would much rather have it this way than a Florida Highway Patrolman yelling at me and my buddy for having concealed carry permits after he ran his liscense for speeding, while we were down there on vacation.

Dubb, if you were walking down the street right now with a piece on your hip and a cop approached you, would you be this big of a dick to him if he asked you a simple question? Thats why half of these cops can barely trust most of humanity, and are dicks right back to us. He is just doing his job. A little bit of respect might be a refreshing change for them.

The guy with the camera has read/watched far too much of that Freeman garbage and forgets that with the benefits of society, come certain responsibilities. Civility and not being a douchebag, for one. You name isn't some mystical thing, that gives someone power over you.

He needs to identify said person because he might NOT be legally permitted to carry a firearm. It's reasonable for an officer to determine whether or not you are permitted to operate a car. Why is it not equally permissible that he should make sure you aren't barred from possession of a firearm, especially if he's responding to a public complaint?

i think most states have laws that say you must identify yourself to an officer when asked. if you don't want to be asked don't bring unecesary attention to yourself.
I think any reasonable person would know that if you walk around with a gun on your hip someone will call it in. the cop will ask you about it when they are called. if you're legal no big deal.
