Well, what's easier, hooking up a head unit with a million wires, or an Apple dongle to twin RCAs coming from an iPad?
Double standards my ass. I just like simple, and elegant. |

I plan on building a house in about a year... the wife gets to design the rest of the house (minus the room with the tv and sound system - that is mine ) the garage is all mine. I plan on getting a toolbox like that and setting the whole garage up so I can actually get to my tools. I'll have to look around for something like that.

Holy crap! :rockwoot: That's just awesome! Great find |
L-88 hood?
|
Actually, looks like I will end up with a 427 hood, two flat stock "stinger" hoods, and the abomination you see in the pic, apparently some Ecklers Greenwood-style reproduction hood, which I will sell.

I'm going to turn it upside down, and put some skis on it. I think i can rig it to shoot rockets out of those vents too, so, stay off my mountain if you know what's good for you. JC |

http://www.maximum-cars.com/Cars/Che...-l88-coupe.jpg About the only thing similar ( easy to see with both pics ) is the rear height. Avatard, I'm sure somebody will purchase that hood. Stock low riser hood limits your options on intakes and somebody will grab the fugly hood just to use a high rise intake. |
I meant, is he gonna replace the Eckler hood with an L-88 hood...which is found on most 427 big block vettes.

Actually, it's not the L88, but the 427/LT1 hood:
http://image.corvettefever.com/f/968...e_stingray.jpg The one I'd like to put on the flared car for sale is actually the 73-75 hood. Need to find one. This should have the clearance the Holley needs, but look "right" on the car. http://www.loughmillermotors.com/73corvette2-0.jpg It would also eliminate the wiper door. |
Get anything done yet?
|
Nah, actually, AMJ has been here for the past 3 weeks or so, and we've been working on my basement studio...although he did have to build shelves in the garage to put away all the 'Vette parts first!
Remember I had to choose between two '69 Corvettes? ...and the other one had a PERFECT body, with NO mods? ...AND even came with a big block from a later model SS454 truck? Well, it was too good to pass on, and my bro lent me the bread, and we got that one too. I now have 3 'Vettes in my fucking driveway, although I'm selling the '94 C4 to build the two '69s. The one with the flares now has a '73 hood on it, and looks MUCH better, although I will need to modify the tops of the fenders just a little, to match the upturned rear edge of the '73-76 hood profile, but thankfully no more fucking "Corvette Summer" shit, and no need for a wiper door. Know anyone that wants an Ecklers Turbo II hood? Cheap? I actually picked up TWO '73 hoods, and I think I'm gonna cut a big square hole in one of them. Why? Well, let's just say the flared '69 is going to be finished off a bit more like a Hot Rod, since I don't feel like putting four new fenders on the car (as I now intend to sell it off for a profit), and with the flares and sidepipes adorning the sides, it really needed a "feature" in the front, and in the back...so, it's getting a flip-top billet aluminum LeMans-style GT gas cap for the rear deck, to spruce things up a tad, and THIS fucker poking out of said hole in the second hood: http://poopnugget.com/files/weiand.jpg Oh yes, I did. Two 390 CFM Holleys, on a Weiand Tunnel Ram. I love Ebay. Fucking stole that thing. Paid less than 6 bills for the entire setup. That's an actual pic of the manifold on the Nova it came off of. Fucking UPS crushed the air filters, but they really needed to be replaced with nice fresh white elements anyway, like I said, they were on a driver. The other one is going to stay outwardly stock (save some modernization of brakes, and interior), and will be my "keeper". The flared 'Vette keeps its numbers-matching L48 small block, and the other one (which came with the awesome 427/LT1 hood) will get the small block out of my '71 Chevelle, which will in turn receive the 454. I will then dress up the 'Velle as an SS 454 Tribute Resto-mod car, and probably sell that too. That car has a SERIOUS drivetrain in it, and would survive the torque of the Rat Motor a lot better (Lakewood scattershield, Midway Centerforce clutch, M-20 wide Hurst Competition plus shifted Muncie, driveshaft loop, Lakewood ladderbars, and a Moroso Brute Posi 12-bolt 4-series carrier, running 3.73s). The big block, and the rest of the parts for the second '69 are coming this weekend, weather permitting, and I intend to start on all this as soon as weather gets better. My arthritis doesn't like cold and damp. I'll post more pics and updates, thanks for asking! |
Great deal on the dual quad set up :dthumbs:
Sounds like you'll be busy with multiple wrenching. Put the hood on corvette forum or the vette barn for a decent price and somebody will buy it. Thanks for the update  |
Congrats and good luck. I'm a C2 fan personally, but the C3's are awesome from a rear view.

Well, I am an ass man...

Please. Tell me more of this place you call Fort Worth.
(I have an admittedly unrelated reason for asking) |

No, its a pretty cool town actually. Lots of old west culture, plenty to see and do, and plus I live here...and my place is the shit. Double percolators man, double percolators. NAWMEAN!?!?!? |
Now I do. Had to Google it though.
:lmao: |
dam thread jacking! came here looking for updates on the car and all I see recently is talk of Texas. take the car to texas when it's done, meanwhile show us progress!!!
forgot my LOL and smilies. |
Progress awaits better weather, and funds (need to sell my C4). Will post updates when available. The Big block, the trans, and the last load of 'vette parts for #2 get dropped on Thursday (hopefully).
Two large ticket items I consider essential to all these projects on my shopping list I still need to beg, barter, or buy: 1) A Legit lift (2 post asymmetrical, preferred) 2) Decent Tig/Arc/Plasma buzzbox. |
Quote:
the lift.. :dribble: i want one some day. never saw the need until I went to my buddies place to help him do some work. yeah that was very nice. |

Obligatory pics of said Bronco demanded! :D

nice truck!!
|
Its still stock, waiting at the new house in Michigan. Looking at a 6 inch lift and some 35s to start. Its clean, but a little cancer starting around the wheel wells, so I ordered some cutout flares and a cold air kit. The wife thinks she is gonna drive it, but I bought her a Honda Accord, so she can fuck right off. I really dig the Bronc Troy, might see if I can fina a bumper set up like that.

I like how big the engine is and then there's the tiny looking exhaust manifolds.

Gen V EFI. Need info on what Mark IV heads work. Guy who sold me the 'Vette says the Mark IV heads fit, other we resources say depends on casting number. This is out of an SS 454 truck. Anyone who knows their rats, please clue me. Thinking of putting big heads, a nice cam and a carb. Not a huge fan of EFI. I prefer mechanical over electrical any day. Still torn as to whether to put the BB in the Chevelle, and make it an SS 454 tribute (resto-mod) or put the BB in the 'Vette. I still have BB sidepipes coming for for the 'Vette, if I decide to go that way. |

The twins
As you can see, the hideous Ecklers hood on the flared car has been replaced with a '73-'78 1-pc hood (it already looks a ton better, no?)
