So my friend gets the dealer to knock off a hefty chunk of money gets it to basically 500$ above dealer cost...They shake and the salesman says ok lets go do the paperwork and then my friend tells him ok well lets see how financing goes...they tried to back out of the agreed price once they realized he wasnt paying in cash and all of it that day...after getting thru all the red tape my friend got his jeep for the agreed upon price that was originally stated.

There are other cases where they hope you'll finance because they get a cut off the interest rate. But maybe that's not a big factor anymore with today's low rates.

My father was on a business trip years ago and saw an old Toy pickup for sale. Pulled off to go see it and it needed a good amount of work take make it decent looking (maybe running too). My father thought it would have been a nice project for me and would be a nice addition to my Samurai. He called the number and they guy wanted $5k for it. My dad busted out laughing and the guy asked what my father was going to offer. When my dad said $800, the convo didn't last long after that. :lol

Yup, when I worked at a dealership we could always give a little more when they were financing through the store.

It's sad when a company doesn't want cash straight up.

My cousin was shopping for a new GMC Sierra 4x4 for almost a year. Went in at the last day in Oct before the new models came in and the dealership wanted to move stuff. He walked out after trading in his shitty Ranger, WITH and extended warranty for 28 grand. On a 41,000 truck. Dude stole that truck.

Love the Dodges. Love this model, love the new model. My neighbor just got the brand new 2011 in silver.
