Leathers and CCW
Do any of you guys CCW in full leathers? How?
|
Hope you don't need it it in a hurry if you do! It would be better in a tank bag if you're in full leathers. Might could wear a shoulder rig under leathers but still have to unzip to get to it.
|
There might be a way to use a shoulder rig and take to your local leather man and have him do a velcro access panel mod. A good leather man would be able to do so without making it too terribly obvious what it is for.
|
Tankbag FTW. Carrying on your body just makes you more likely to get injured if you crash.
|
I try to ride in areas with out bears and bad guys.
|
I ride with it in the tank bag but that creates a few problems. You have to either leave it on the bike unattended if you go in side places (my tankbag is a bitch to get off the bike) If you get attacked by anyone and get knocked off the bike....no gun. And you still have to undo a zipper to get to it in your leathers or in the tank bag. I have not found a perfect option yet. I usually have it holstered in the tank bag then I tuck it in my jacket when I go inside places but then the jacket stays on which sucks.

I will say this, a G19 just fits in the chest pocket of a tecknic 1 piece suit. Although I would be scared to shoot myself. I've seen fanny packs that would work better

Yeah, I have a Glock 27. Maybe just a Safe-T-Block is all I need, throw it in the inside pocket.
|
Actually, maybe a pocket holster will do the trick. With my luck, I'd forget the Safe-T-Block is there. I like my guns to go bang when I pull the trigger, without much else involved.
|
I plan on mounting a SAW on the front of my bike when I get back.

I dont CCW and the only time I am in full leathers are track rides or races, but I would think a shoulder holster would be the thing, maybe somehow clipped into a back protector strap? Still if you fall on it, itsa gonna bruise!
|
where the hell do you guys ride?, just at night through Detroit or something?

I almost got bike jacked in suberbian Nashville, got threatened by a redneck with a lead pipe on a mountain ride and almost got attacked by a meth head while at a bike night. It happens....and I live in a safe area compared to some. Some people have it out for bikers. I see it all the time. |

The guy with the pipe didn't get close enough before I took off on the bike, helmet around my arm. He had already almost run one of us off the road. CCW does not mean you shoot everybody that threatens you but don't tell me that people don't get killed everyday by violence. If I can and need to protect myself....I will. People tell me all the time that I dont need a gun. I went to Virginia Tech. I dont need any one to tell me that the lives of the innocent are not taken away every day by criminals. 2 more students lost their lives at VT this past week. And that is a SAFE town. |
Joe Rocket magnetic tank bag. Or my man purse as my wife likes to call it.
Might also look into ASP's for personal protection.I know a couple people who ride with them. http://www.defensedevices.com/aspbaton16inch.html |

yep read about that last week. Sad that they were just out camping when they were killed. I ride the western part of VA and into WV often, never know where the wacko's are. |

If I'm on the bike... you can be gauranteed I'm packin. 200% I simply use a fobus side holster under my jacket cause my in the back holster hits the seat when I sit back. |

Gas, you carry iwb or out?

i think if somebody's gonna kill you, they're gonna do it before you get a chance to get one out of a tank/tail/ bag, fannypack, etc, if somebody pulled a gun on me to steal my bike, if i just let em have it, they MAY not shoot, if i ATTEMPT to pull out a gun, then i just gave them a reason to go and pull the trigger on the gun they already have aimed at my head, now if they just have a bat, piece of pipe, etc...i MIGHT try to get my gun out
dont nobody wanna go gun on gun, it never ends good....been shot, stabbed, cut...etc, etc, etc i can see keeping one in the house, maybe in the car, but i cant see fumbling for one on a bike under jackets and leathers as being a good idea, like i said when you're attacker see's you making moves like that, he may just go ahead and end your struggling I'm all for gun rights, etc and defending yourself, dont get me wrong, but if the need to pull a gun comes around, you better make sure you can get it in about half a second Now if someone or a group are approaching with evil intentions, and you cant get gone quick enough, but ya have time to unholster, yeah maybe then i'd show it to them and let them know they shouldnt have brought a bat/knife, etc to a gun fight couple of side notes: 1. i think there are plenty of people out there that need shot 2. i cant own firearms anyway |
