Ok,Ok you love your bike but what's that one little annoying thing that drives you insane about your bike????

For me, I hate my underseat exhaust, mostly due to the fumes, I don't smell it near as bad on the other two that do not have underseat exhaust.

racedoll 08-31-2009 08:27 PM

I have to take both sides of the plastic off and put it up on the rear stand... just to change the oil.

azoomm 08-31-2009 08:31 PM

That Italy closes just when I need parts....

Dave 08-31-2009 08:32 PM

all the goddamned cam chain/upper engine noise + vibration. though i understand thats a trait of the 954. all goes away when you hit 8k and those short velocity stacks start that huge whooshing noise

Rangerscott 08-31-2009 08:51 PM

Hesitation around 5k rpms.

Wish it was lighter.

Wish my detachable pass seat (sargent) would fit under the seat cover.

Still don't understand why it didn't come stock with a high mount can.

Didn't come with porn when I bought her.

MikeSP1 08-31-2009 08:58 PM

The RC: weight

The VTX: fucking carburetor sandwiched between the jugs

Apoc 08-31-2009 09:09 PM

$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Smittie61984 08-31-2009 09:19 PM

I love everything about my bike except it looks like a POS. But it runs like a fucking champ!!!

marko138 08-31-2009 09:19 PM

You are the king of bike related threads, my man. Excellent work.

As for the question at hand:

I hate the heat and insanely stiff clutch pull.

BobTheBiker 08-31-2009 09:20 PM

the fact that I cant ride my cb750 until I have a title and registration on it. other than that, nothing REALLY drives me nuts. well except for the cam tensioner being directly below the carbs on my cylinders. I'm thinking about turning the cylinders around if I can to remedy that.

neebelung 08-31-2009 09:24 PM

That it runs so friggin hot!!!! Holy shit, after a long ride, I literally end up with welts just above the inside of my knee, just from the heat coming off the engine.

R1s run incredibly hot, I rode my friends 09 up in the mountains Sunday, I was glad to get back on my own bike!

goof2 08-31-2009 09:38 PM

I have to echo the heat comments. It is fine when moving but just like a lot of bikes if I am in traffic the fan goes in to convection oven mode.

TYEster 08-31-2009 10:00 PM

Maybe the looks and how the fairings fit together? In order to pull off the mirrors I have to almost disassemble the entire upper set of fairings. Plus it looks bigger than most bikes... But that's more subjective.

The only minor minor thing I don't like is sometimes the throttle hesitates when I crank it open, but I might just be getting ahead of myself and maybe using more throttle than I should in the event I made a small line choice or brake mistake when taking a corner.

Scot 08-31-2009 10:01 PM

frame flex and dodgy handling.

I fixed it with $4000.

Scot 08-31-2009 10:14 PM

remembered some stuff.

$5000

CrazyKell 08-31-2009 10:20 PM

Hmmm.....tough question. Everything I haven't liked, I've changed. :idk:

thirdgenlxi 08-31-2009 10:33 PM

The only 2 things that really annoy me on my bike are both aftermarket and can be fixed (I've just been lazy)

1) The freakin Ohlins steering damper... I love it, but it rattles and vibrates and drives me INSANE!! Sometimes I just reach down and grab it and hold on to it for awhile just for some quietness, lol. I've tried all kinds of bushings and rubber pieces, nothing I've done will shut it up, lol

2) I love my high mount exhaust, but the midpipe on the right side won't allow me to move my foot back on the peg and totally screws up my body positioning. I really need to get a different one

Really the only complaint I've ever had about the bike itself is the longer throw for the shifter. I've ridden other bikes, particularly the RC-51, where the shifting was super quick and easy, whereas the F4i's are a little more notchy. It's not THAT bad though. Oh and the clutch cable that always runs in front of the speedo, but that can be fixed with a little metal wire (which I did and it works great), so it's not an issue anymore

I still love my bike though :)

NONE_too_SOFT 08-31-2009 10:44 PM

anything i ever dislike about my bike can be fixed and is usually my own damn fault.

pauldun170 08-31-2009 10:46 PM

The V&H SSr2 exhaust - too fricken loud
The 200lbs of lead in the frame, while offering protection in case of nuclear blast...it does kind of weigh it down a bit.
The mirrors rattling at certain engine RPMs
Suspension in the tight stuff

The heat off our bikes is because they have them so lean for EPA restrictions. Best thing is to tune them and get more fuel into the mix.

I honestly have nothing to complaign about. I have debated on powdering most of my chrome gloss black. Perhaps more power would be good but I dont want to sacrifice any realiability or longevitity of the motor.

I can sell ya a full Yoshimura exhaust to fix that.... came off my ZX1000 but should bolt right up to your 11.

karl_1052 09-01-2009 12:21 AM

The shift light is too low to be useful
the fairings are a pain in the ass to remove/reinstall
the stock seat
the fact that Ed is getting the same one. redflip

the seat is seriously uncomfortable after 2hrs... usually I remember when I have another 7hrs to go.

can't pack SHIT.... no real way to attach bags securely to it... takes a lot of ingenuity. (cortech sport bags SUCK btw)

By too low, I mean it is out of the line of sight. It is at the bottom left on the busa gauges, below the fuel gauge.

Homeslice 09-01-2009 09:41 AM

Buzzy engine, boring-looking front end, and windscreen that is too high to allow the wind to prop up your chest on long distances.

Trip 09-01-2009 09:49 AM

downshifting, my bike doesn't like that until you get really low in the RPMs. Then I remember I am not riding a sportbike anymore.

Cutty72 09-01-2009 09:55 AM

Mirrors vibrate to point of uslessness at any RPM above 0. Gets a little warm at slow speeds, but that's just cause it wants to GO!

the lack of a center stand makes chain maintenence annoying (shut up Trip)

though I recently fixed that:

I just use a rear stand. :idk:

I am still getting use to this center stand nonsense. I don't have a chain and oil changes for me are every 6000, so I don't need it too often. I need to figure out what I need to get to change the front tire.

HurricaneHeather 09-01-2009 11:17 AM

I hate that my bike is sitting in a junk yard. Piece of crap.

julie j 09-01-2009 11:41 AM

My stock seat sucked but I fixed that.

My pegs are a little high and make my gear bunch up behind my knees. Touratech does make adjustable pegs. I just need to fork over the money.

My bars are a little far away for me. I tried risers but they did not do the trick. I have now purchased a new fix but unfortunately it will require a longer brake line and bleeding ABS brakes. :panic:

Yamerhaw 09-01-2009 12:53 PM

warped rotors(though this last time was my fault) but i've never had rotor probelms except on suzuki's, both GSXR 750's and this will be the third set on the 1000

Antwanny 09-01-2009 04:39 PM

TLR heat by your nuts on a hot day, i swear somedays i could cook the hair off my legs if i rode in shorts.
The zx10 tach is garbage on the first gens and the fact that it doesn't get me out of tickets just because of how cool and fast it is.

So no real complaints.

Rangerscott 09-01-2009 09:27 PM

Forgot to add heat to mine. EVERYTHING gets hot. You cant keep your hand on the frame for more than a few seconds without letting off.

When I get home, I park in the garage and put a fan at the front of my bike to cool it off. My rads are on the sides and when people see them I tell them that they are my supercharger air coolers. LOL

yea i have im just really not that pressed to do it unless i get just assloads of time and or money id like to do that and swap to nissin calipers. These tokicos on the gen 1s are squishy even with ss lines

lauralynne 09-02-2009 02:20 AM

100 mile gas range. Otherwise it's perfect. Going from the VFR to the Superhawk makes the 100 mile tank feel like 12 miles. :(

MissHell 09-02-2009 02:46 AM

Too quiet with catalytic converter.
Frustrating my Yoshi slip-on did bascially nothing after installed. :(

dReWpY 09-02-2009 10:02 AM

the fact that the thing can roast your nuts in slow traffic and how she hates to be in traffic... oh and its not the bikes fault but it eats rear tires

pauldun170 09-02-2009 10:22 AM

Another thing that pisses me off is the 270 mile gas range.
It's a slap in the face to the gas gauge that tells me I'm running on vapors at 190 miles.

dReWpY 09-02-2009 11:00 AM

when i hit 90 miles i look for gas stations.... lucky basterd

I had a hydraulic clutch on my Aprilia, I thought it was nice & smooth

Of course it constantly leaked down near the slave cylinder.

My VF is like 23 years old and I still like it's Hydraulic Clutch:lol:

I dont have an FI bike but I dont think there's a choke on them. It's just for "High Idle", right?

MikeSP1 09-03-2009 01:53 PM

I actually like the hydraulic clutch on the RC, it works like a champ, is smooth, and is simple in design. I honestly like it, unless I need to flush/bleed it, then I fucking hate it, takes forever to get pressure at the mc again.

Black is the plan... fuckin' ripping out the hydro clutch and putting a fucking cable in place is also on the list. I just like the feel of the cabled clutch... the hydro, I feel nothing.

gloss black or flat?

pdog 09-04-2009 12:05 AM

My Daytona 675 was hot as hell and the engine whine below 5k was highly annoying.

I just don't like the engine of my DRZ. It's a thumper and I've just realized I'd much prefer a smooth V-Twin.

Make sure to clear-coat the flat black, otherwise it's hard to clean and doesn't look as good IMO

Oh, fuck yeah... My helmet is a disaster so I know how it can get... I've seen the newer Harley's and how their flat colors look after getting a bit shitty and it cleans up well. Depending on the budget factor, I might just bite the bullet and have someone do it for me. I can prep it and everything, but it's going to be hard for me to control the environment enough to get the paint to set up properly...

jalaan1 09-04-2009 09:37 AM

the weight = manufacturer's fault

battle scars = my fault. ; )

Phenix_Rider 09-09-2009 06:06 PM

The rash! and the fact that I'm still at work because the insurance adjuster came this morning. Both of which will be remedied soon.

Other than that... Not much. The angle to the pegs hits me in the Achilles on a long slab ride. The fairing vibrates a bit, which is only really annoying at high idle. My bike is extraordinarily easy to do normal maintenance (until you have to do the valves).

derf 09-09-2009 08:12 PM

Space. i want more space. I have a larger trunk than most bikes, but I still find myself with more stuff than will fit in the trunk. Hard Saddlebags would be awesome.

Rangerscott 09-12-2009 01:39 PM

The tranny can be a little clunky but it just reminds me that I just shifted.

There are R/R problems with the 5th and 6th gens. Knock on wood I havnt had them.

Wish she had better looking wheels.
