Injuries that have prevented you from riding?

Well, doc just told me that I have truncator tendonitis. I have torn the tendons that attach the muscles to my hip. Not sure how it happened but she says no riding for at least 4 weeks. She just laughed when I told her about my trackday this weekend. Not that it's going to stop me.

She said it's more than likely due to the bike....but could be anything considering I'm so active.

Anyone else come across anything like this?

HurricaneHeather 09-03-2009 12:38 PM

Wow that really sucks!

I understand you wanting to go to the track day, but just be careful that you don't do permanent damage that will cause you to not ride ever.

I can ride now, I think. Just too nervous to ride on the street and I don't have a bike to ride....or a helmet to wear. And my hip hurts ALL THE TIME. :sigh:

Tmall 09-03-2009 12:42 PM

When my back or knees act up, I can't even fathom riding. Thankfully it doesn't happen too much in the nice weather.

CrazyKell 09-03-2009 12:42 PM

Ya it really could've been caused by anything. The pain is less now than it was before so with daily stretching and walking (not running :() it will heal.

Just going to keep it nice and limber for Saturday. If it starts to hurt I'm off...simple as that. I've already paid so it doesn't matter much.

Have you thought about a heat pad before and after your sessions?? Something to keep the blood flow in there and to keep it limber?

CrazyKell 09-03-2009 01:08 PM

Great idea. She said not to use warming/cooling gels but a heat pad would work great. Thanks!

I just did this on Sunday . . . mountain bikes are dangerous . . .

First broken bone of my life . . . no fun.

CasterTroy 09-03-2009 02:50 PM

When I was married to "Moody" my detachable testicles prevented me from riding, as they resided mainly in her purse, but occasionally I would steal them and sneak a ride. Since 2005 though I have full possession and have ridden a MIN of 3 times weekly with no adverse effects

I've got the almost identical picture from 2007.

Mine was roadracing.

How old are you?

You look much younger than I expected.

How exactly could riding a motorcycle tear your tendons? Maybe running could have done it, but not riding a motorcycle.

smileyman 09-03-2009 03:32 PM

I had surgery on my testicles that prevented my from riding. The only physical ailment that has. It was to correct a twisting problem and though it was done similar to a vasectomy it was worse than a vasectomy in that I had sutchers 'sp'? In each testicle. Great fun. I also sometimes get sinus and ear infections that mess with my balance so I abstain until i recover but thats rare.

Phenix_Rider 09-03-2009 03:40 PM

I've had a few. I just managed to make it to my track day last year in between surgeries. Less than a week after having staples taken out of my abdomen made it a rough day.

Right now, my knee is still sore from the wreck- doesn't prevent me from riding though. The bike sitting in the garage waiting for an insurance adjustor does... The knee just made riding home miserable.

Apoc 09-03-2009 03:58 PM

My burn stopped me from riding most of this summer. And the season is pretty much done.

Doc didn't say it was caused by the bike so much as exacerbated by the bike. :( Because these muscles are used a lot it could've been anything and I likely wouldn't remember the injury.

Although I do remember this one time....I had my leg over my head....and I felt a little tweak. :nf:

smileyman 09-03-2009 04:16 PM

Next topic, 'What kinds of injuries have you sustained while having or attemting to get sex??'

fasternyou929 09-03-2009 04:53 PM

Damn, sorry to hear about the tendonitis! Is it painful all the time or only when you're sitting or standing or active?

I was diagnosed with a hernia in late January. The look on the doc's face when I asked him if surgery could wait until after track season was priceless.

I've since crashed on a mountain bike (and second Krabill's note above, them things is dangerous!) 4-5 weeks ago and my left wrist is still sore and a bit swollen. Told the wife I'd get it checked out after the track day this coming Monday and got about the same look I did from the doc earlier this year. They just don't understand!

Speaking of, glad to hear you're not letting an injury stop you from getting out there the first time!

Sorry 'bout that. That's what you get for saying you were very bendy.

marko138 09-03-2009 04:55 PM

I broke my shifting foot several years back...kept me off the bike for 3 weeks or so.

And last week my left hand hurt pretty bad. I had an inflamed tendon, so I stayed off the bike for a few days.

Hurts all the time. Deadening pain is the only way to describe it. Not enough to prevent me from doing stuff...but just odd feeling.

I'll give it a rest after this weekend.

So, there is a valid medical reason to not go this weekend and you laugh it off? Awesome. You know it's only a trackday, right? I mean, given the choice of healing well or having a fun time one day... I'd go with healing well. :idk:

Particle Man 09-03-2009 09:04 PM

when my back acts up I can't even stand up much less ride.

OneSickPsycho 09-03-2009 09:07 PM

Sprained ankles, strained MCL, shattered kneecap. If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough...

Once I explained the day she was a little better with it. I'm doing a track school that will have a maximum of 2 hours....broken up by breaks.....on track. As long as I keep it limber she's okay with it.

Can't all be amazing like you.

I have been prety lucky in that ankle and wrist sprains from football limited me a bit but thats been it.

Last year I was working at the construction site and got a call for a man down so while responding to him one of the safety guys ran over my foot in a pick up truck, of course its my shifting foot. And I had track day the next day. It was sore that day but felt fine when i woke up in the morning so all was good.

I broke my collar bone, that kept me off the bike for almost a month, and another 2 weeks before I could do anything other than a very short trip.

Broke my hand earlier this year, wore a cast for 2 weeks then drove down to deals gap to meet a bunch of idiots and did a little riding there.

The other day I got a paper cut that hurt pretty bad, and made me suck on the skin where I got the cut until it stopped hurting enough to wear my gloves.

I had my balls snipped a few years ago and that took almost a month before I was brave enough to ride the bike before the stiches were fully disolved.

KSGregman 09-04-2009 10:54 AM

I crashed and put the head of my femur through the back of my hip socket....didn't walk for 3 months....didn't walk without a limp for another 3 months or so after that. I crashed in November....I was back on the bike the following April. It was my right hip so getting on and off the bike was a chore...but wasn't too bad once I was on and riding. :idk:

I shattered my pelvis once. That kept me off the bike for a while.

Well, I was gorilla fucking CrazyKell and slipped out and broke my dick!!! OUCH!!! Hmmm.... that may have something to do with your problem Kell.. I mean we were using the JHSD at the time...

tached1000rr 09-20-2009 02:57 PM

I'm going to have to have knee surgery before long, I can ride now but it's painful but at least I can ride, hopefully I can recuperate pretty quick and get back on the bike soon after. Ideally I would like to have mine scheduled in December so I am 100% by the good weather riding season(I ride year round)

was92v 09-20-2009 05:06 PM

I shattered my collar bone once. It kept me off of bikes for about 3 weeks. It took about 6 weeks to heal and repair my RD before before I was back on full time.

HurricaneHeather 09-21-2009 09:06 AM

I got a cortizone shot in my hip on Friday...it's supposed to help with the irritation I feel from the screw in there. It apparently isn't getting along very well with the tendons in my hip.

marko138 09-21-2009 10:03 AM

I drummed and rode yesterday. I can barely walk I'm so sore.

z06boy 09-21-2009 04:17 PM

Compound fracture of my femur and foot/ankle crushed plus having the foot and ankle pinned/screwed back together. One other time severe roadrash from not wearing my gear and surfing across the asphalt.

Other than this...no other injuries have even stopped me from riding.

As far as sex injuries...minor in comparison and they didn't stop me from riding.

Antwanny 09-21-2009 05:23 PM

when i blew out my eardrum the 2nd time, they had to pretty much cut my ear off to repair it. I had a headwrap for a week which kept me off the bike. I pulled a muscle in my back moving furniture that put me down for 2 days.
