I applaud the effort, but all the white on the tail is blech.......

Mr Lefty 09-19-2009 04:23 PM

looks like shit

derf 09-19-2009 04:37 PM

agreed, the guy has been trying to sell it on craigslist for a while, he wants $5k for it, and while it looks cool, its just way too much money

it's the F800GS

and it's not what the bike looks like so much.. as what it can do... and that makes it sexy..

the paint on that bike makes it look like shit...

You must not have a big enough stick up your ass

Homeslice 09-19-2009 05:15 PM

Oh ok it's a bimmer (or beemer)

Looks ok to me, it's a lot better than those ugly VSTROMs.

But isn't 800 cc's a little overkill for a dual sport? Unless maybe you were going to spend a lot of the time ON road.

Mr Lefty 09-19-2009 05:18 PM

yeah... probably is... but it'll be my only bike and I tend to take long trips... so this will be nice and comfortable for long trips and I don't have to stop when the pavement does.

I'm looking eventually to pickup a KLR or DRZ dualsport to do a bit of travel, store, fly home, fly back and repeat.

Homeslice 09-19-2009 05:18 PM

how much are they, and is it a single or twin?

Mr Lefty 09-19-2009 05:23 PM

the F800GS is a parallel twin. run 11000 new... 13000 out the door with ABS (selectable) heated grips, trip computer, and clear signals(who really cares).

Homeslice 09-19-2009 05:32 PM

what is the difference between that and something like an KTM 690? I rode one of those and couldn't get used to it, it was so damn high and had alot of brake dive.

Mr Lefty 09-19-2009 06:08 PM

it's got more power... a little more road focused from what I've been told.

I've yet to ride either... but I've set on the 800GS...

the nice thing about the 800 is that it's got a payload that rivals the 1200.. but has much better off road prowess.

it gets 50-60 mpg... has a 4.2 gal tank... perfect for me (like to get over 200mpt)

Antwanny 09-19-2009 07:38 PM

love the old 900rr's put a black tail section on it and ride the piss out of it. The swing arm and rear hugger would have to be repainted as well.

MikeSP1 09-19-2009 07:59 PM

I can see that 900 crying. It's weeping and drowning in it's own sorrow. I'd pick it up because of some of the delicious parts, but would trailer it home in a box trailer and hide it in the garage until new fairings showed up. Anybody notice that the frame, case covers, and the rear wheel are all painted like that?

Homeslice 09-19-2009 09:41 PM

And the subframe too :skep:

Homeslice 09-19-2009 09:50 PM

What is the whole "Stick Up" reference?

Also, anyone notice how he claims "Ohlins front and rear" but it still has the stock forks? Sure, he could have put Ohlins internals in them, but then why does he have a Showa sticker on them instead of Ohlins?

Mr Lefty 09-19-2009 09:55 PM

stick up reference?

Dave 09-19-2009 09:57 PM

its the exhaust. look at the pipe

The decal on the bike, where it says "Stick Up" on the tank

Mr Lefty 09-19-2009 10:11 PM

oh... didn't look close the first time...

yeah think the pipe says stickup too... :idk:

Rangerscott 09-20-2009 01:46 AM

I love how people think their stuff is styled to "them", should bring in a lot of cash.

101lifts2 09-20-2009 02:41 AM

Bike is cool, paint is hideous.

Tmall 09-20-2009 05:40 AM

They get that way because ppl tell them their ugly bike is nice, to be polite.

karl_1052 09-20-2009 08:26 AM

I would ride that bike.

BTW, his "Exhaust system built as per our specs at Akrapovič factory."
is a stock CBR exhaust with what looks to me like a Kerker slipon.
