Sorta makes the hummer look like a bitchmobile

I think my neighbor's 911 Cabrio has more ground clearance than that.

itgirl 09-25-2009 06:36 PM

Yes.

That thing is the most useless off road vehicle, but by definition a great SUV, since SUVs never go off road.

No, I think the MRAP does that already. And far more effectively I might add. I want one for my commute when I get home. :D

Crap truck, too big and too heavy for alot of places, and it isnt as competant off road as it could have been

Avatard 09-30-2009 01:18 PM

This rig has only one arguable purpose in my opinion:

Ultimate tag trailer tow rig.

Pretty much nailed that on the head.

Here is the same style truck, and the boat it pulls.

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...3/IMG_0597.jpg

and the boat

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...IMG_0703-1.jpg

The boat I know is over $1 million, and the truck after paint I'd guess $ 150,000 ish.

Some other boat haulers

Unimogs are the shit! My wife writes up the work orders for hauling equipment for the Gov't and the (formerly) Blackwater boys around here...I'll see if I can get some pics of their haulers. The Blackwater guys have some way pimp shit. Fully loaded, bulletproof, lifted and armed International CTX...blacked out. Wicked!

That Outerlimits is nice. The catamaran boats in the other pictures make me a bit nervous though.

Yep I saw a bunch of those in town the other weekend for a Poker Run on the lake. Most of the boats had a pair of Supercharged 1072's on them...big boys with big toys for sure.

Here is one of the guys arriving...

Except you can't pull a 5th wheel with it, so it's not even that :p

OneSickPsycho 10-02-2009 04:44 PM

Sick trucks... All of 'em.

So it looks like y'alls criteria for ultimate SUV is based upon how much fuel it can burn in a mile? They're all obnoxious IMO. :td:

Personally, when we trailer/camp, I pull two bikes on a HarborFreight trailer behind an Integra or Accord which both get about 22~25mpg while towing. :nee:

But thanks for the pious attitude anyway...

Chris S 10-11-2009 12:34 PM

Hey, I drive an E90 M3 and a Ridgeline, so I'm not exactly pious!

But my wife and I try to conserve where we can. She drives a Jetta TDI, and fuel mileage is weighing heavily in our search for a bigger family hauler (Subie Outback @ 22/29 mpg is currently in the lead).

I didn't say fifth wheel. I said tag trailer. It is the ultimate tag trailer rig, and not surprisingly, that's what they're used for (large boats, mostly).

They do have some that have a crew cab (4 doors) and a utility bed, with 5th wheel flange for even larger 5th wheel towing.

The Unimog and Mercedes are rather pimp......But the rest seem like poser gear for those Mexicans & White guys who want the fake semi-tractor look with the exhaust stacks and the whole 9 yards. Not to mention they are more "full-size trucks" rather than SUVs. You want a real "ultimate SUV" that is actually decent to drive on the street, check this.........Supercharged, bitch!

I agree on the "fake semi" thing. I'm not sure if what you are posting up is any better though. Anyone who seriously takes a vehicle off road would either not put the plastic ground effects crap on it or it would be damaged and hanging all over the place.

I agree, that Land Rover would be near-useless off-road, but from what I've seen the vast majority of SUV's never go off-road or tow anything. So it stands to reason that those who are looking for the "ultimate SUV" would probably want a street cruiser, while those who want to tow heavy loads would instead be looking for the "ultimate full-size pickup"

Without being concerned about off-road capabilities I do like the Range Rover Sport Supercharged. Depending on how it is executed I may like the new X5M more though. 555hp makes a strong argument.
