So I just finished the course to be an MSF instructor. It was 8 days and it was brutal. More later.

Since when are you an msf instructor?

derf 09-28-2009 10:13 PM

That is awesome, maybe at the next rally we can do a day long ERC?

An instruction day at the rally would actually be really cool. Maybe do a riding class where we can discuss technique and such. Maybe do a garage tech class and try to show some good maintenance practices. Ask people what they want out of it and set it up that way. I wish we had an awesome suspension guru. That's what I really want to learn.

That's a huge side perk. We get discounts all over the place for being a MSF Rider Coach. If you want, shoot me a pm, there is a website that lists many of the places we get a discount from.

LeeNetworX 09-29-2009 09:50 AM

Does being an MSF instructor get you greater insurance discounts on your bikes?

Nope. Taking the MSF doesn't even get me a discount. Niether does all my national accredited safe driving classes thru work.

the same as having taken the MSF class

NEON, can you send me that link, i had it at my lost job. i tried to use the list but alot of those discounts were outdated

LOW, SBISD was where i was teaching, but i haven't taught at all this yr, and don't know if i;m gonna get a chance now that the wife is working weekends, and its me and kids all weekend.

personnally i like C/G, they're brick and mortor, 3 in houston. reasonable prices vs dealers, no not as cheap as i-net, but resonable.

Well Amorok passed the msf instructor class, msf instructors get discounts, not msf students.

Werd! The rider coach discount rocks!!!

anthonyk 09-29-2009 12:32 PM

Nice! I let my certification lapse at renewal time a couple of months ago, so I'll get to go through that whole course again once I have time to teach again.

derf 09-29-2009 12:38 PM

How hard is it to take the instructor course? And what are the prerequisites?

And Rider gave me 5% for my MSF, USAA gave me 10%

it's not particularly hard, just takes alot of time.

in TX

you have to be a range aid X? times, like 6-7, that means 6-7 weekends you work for free and all weekend

then the class itself is 1 week long

+ you have to take the Basic class within a yr of trying to become an inst. so there's another weekend.

it's a good personnal rewarding thing, and it doesn't pay to badly either, on avg about $20/hr,

LeeNetworX 09-29-2009 02:46 PM

Dairyland gives us a discount for our MSF class certificates - don't recall what it is off the top of my head.

Tsunami 09-29-2009 05:31 PM

Congrats!

Thats something i wanted to do also, when i become a better rider.

t-homo 09-29-2009 05:56 PM

Being an MSF coach is on my list of riding goals.

Congrats dude.

Just happened to get the bill for the premium due for Lisa's bike yesterday. Looks like 2% discount for MSF class. Also get discounts for home ownership and Winter, but it doesn't state how much.
