who drives a car faster than their bike?

Just curious. I think I do...but not by much.

Sean 10-20-2009 08:46 PM

I turn 1:34s at Streets of Willow in a car with road tires and 1:36s on a bike with race tires. Spins on a bike are expensive, in a car you just keep going...so I'm a pussy on 2.

Scot 10-20-2009 09:04 PM

Just top speed. I suck at riding and driving...so I'm basing it on the easiest accomplishment...holding the pedal to the floor.

Trip 10-20-2009 09:04 PM

My car is a POS, so I am much faster on the bike.

jalaan1 10-20-2009 09:13 PM

my car has about 90bhp.... the bike about 102bhp

you do the math. :;):

racedoll 10-20-2009 09:21 PM

Haven't really had the opportunity to have my car up to speed like that. Maybe one of these days I will.

derf 10-20-2009 10:42 PM

I used to drive one faster than my bike, it was a super 7with a 13bt, as long as I didnt get on the gas too hard the car played planted

psychochild28 10-21-2009 12:28 AM

Consistently I'm faster in my car. Even though it's a POS and might not make it through the winter.

dReWpY 10-21-2009 12:31 AM

even if I clicked off a 16 min run in my jeep, i still am faster on the pig

karl_1052 10-21-2009 09:24 AM

My bike has around 180whp

My two cars put together have about 170whp.

azoomm 10-21-2009 09:27 AM

I do. Worst that is going to happen in my car at the track... even with a get off the 47 airbags go off and it gets expensive. With the bike... I could die. :idk:

Tmall 10-21-2009 09:40 AM

I think my top end on both are pretty similar.

The bike will get there much faster...

z06boy 10-21-2009 10:29 AM

My car is not faster than my bike but sure will give it a run.

Now when it comes to the twisties...

I am faster in my car because I'm a better driver than a rider. :idk:

I've attended several driving schools so I'm more of a car guy that just happens to be into bikes as well.

Said car...

The only way I could be faster in my car is if I drove it off a cliff.

A must-have for me, one of these days...(if their not outlawed by then)

And to answer the poll... It goes to the bike in every category except daily use. Along time ago I chose bikes over cars simply because of the cost to performance value, it just can't be beaten. Plus you can't wheelie a car whenever you want.

It's actually been a good car. Bought it totally stock with 9k miles on it back in 2002. It has never been into the dealership and has around 45k miles on it now.

It has been taken to a performance shop a couple of times for mods and that's it.

Mods include blower...cam..intake and full exhaust...3:90 gears...lowered and upgraded brake pads. Oh yeah and upgraded clutch.

It's a blast to drive.

RACER X 10-21-2009 11:14 AM

hp?

sweet ride btw

i drive the car at the track faster, cuz if i mess up i spin out........woowoo

Rider 10-21-2009 11:21 AM

I wish I had a car I could drive as fast as my last street bike was.

Peak...not that much but the torque is awesome. It's a hot street car and not a race car...still gets real good gas mileage if driven normal.

Hp at the wheels 496...torque 481 but it has around 400 ft. lbs. at only 2k rpm...again...at the wheels.

The car weighs around 3100 lbs...not too bad. :idk:

Cool thing about it...6th gear was useless for power. It was for fuel mileage only with little to no acceleraton on the highway. Now 6th even has some pick up.

RACER X 10-21-2009 11:42 AM

i bet lol

neebelung 10-21-2009 12:28 PM

The car isn't FASTER than the bike, but she'll probably see the track before the bike does.... November 7th, the WRX will hopefully make her auto-x debut (mine, too!!)

t-homo 10-21-2009 12:59 PM

I would like to get a fast car to track at some point. I know the track record at the closest track is held by a miata that is around 10 seconds faster than the bike record.

At Streets of Willow I think the record for bikes and cars is pretty close, but the difference is there are a ton of guys in cars that get close to those levels but only a few on bikes. Cars are a lot easier and have a lower penalty for failure.

The lasy autox I did, I rented a chevy cobalt from enterprise and beat teh shit out of it. Once in a while I will do a trackday in a rental car too, I just make sure I get the optional insurance

Tsunami 10-21-2009 05:40 PM

I do but thats not hard being that my bike tops out at 65mph, maybe 70 if I go downhill.

That is badass.

Sixxxxer 10-21-2009 06:00 PM

Def dont have a car faster than the bike.

So Negative for me

Chris S 10-26-2009 12:25 AM

I just did TWS this weekend in my NC Miata, about 10 secs. slower than my fastest recorded bike time, but that was a long time ago, and I'm a lot slower/rustier on the bike currently. I'd guess that I'm prob. faster in the car now...having a kid has made me a lot more risk-averse!

Riceaholic 10-26-2009 03:00 AM

Those of you that saw my ride at The SE rally know it's a beast. Definitely faster than the bike...
