3000 GT's making a comeback?

Maybe I've just become focused on them, but it seems like I'm seeing a lot of old Mitsubishi 3000 GT's on the road here recently.
Not even necessarily the VR4 model, just 3000 GT's in general.
Are they suddenly making a comeback with rebuilders?

Hell.. I even saw a fine example of its American-badged cousin the Dodge Stealth the other day. I thought all of them had disappeared.:idk:

Homeslice 11-28-2009 08:43 PM

Kids will buy anything once it falls below a certain market value. They probably weren't able to afford a Supra or 300ZX since those usually command a bit more money.

smileyman 11-28-2009 10:39 PM

Last few surviving examples being turned loose by the maturing 30 somethings?

Dave 11-28-2009 11:10 PM

those things weigh a ton and are piss all for modding.

See, that's what I thought too.
Even the VR4's weren't stellar performers.
I dunno, I've just been seeing a lot of them lately and was wondering if it was just me (or Austin).

Buddy has a Stealth. Twin turbo all wheel drive all wheel steer. It's pretty quick around the track... and not so much stock under the hood.

smileyman 11-29-2009 01:02 PM

Did he ever have problems with weeping from the brake lines?
I seem to recall that was an issue with the AWS Stealths (but only if you frequently took the steering to full lock)

Adeptus_Minor 11-30-2009 07:48 PM

Well... that's an interesting alternative to Armor All.

Hydrant 11-30-2009 09:37 PM

Interesting.

Did anyone else think it would be great if she got the car into neutral, started to roll, and hit something?

Rangerscott 11-30-2009 10:54 PM

That was a lip full. :guf:

I watched the video several times, and I can verify that the parking brake was on.

Awesome! Best show ever!

skiergirl 12-04-2009 03:04 PM

well if you see a red 1999 driving around it might be my old one. Sold it about 4 years ago, shortly after I moved here. Saw it around Austin once before a few years ago but not since...

I loved that car....ran great, was a fun little sports car. I didn't race or mod it in any way though.
