Where do you get your parts from?

Thought it was time for a new post.

So...where do you get your parts from?

G-Rex 12-08-2009 10:46 PM

I try to mix it up a little. I do buy parts online, but at the same time I feel it is important to spend money locally at the shops here to do my part to help keep them in business.

Besides, I maintain the relationships with the people there. If they are used to seeing you on a regular basis, when you need something, they're more willing to go out of their way to help you.

Hydrant 12-08-2009 11:06 PM

Online mostly for bigger more expensive parts, and the stealership for piddly shit, or stuff I might need ASAP.

None of the major dealerships around here wouldn't recognize you from the day before, so I have no loyalty to any of them.

There is a Honda dealership 5 miles down the road that they know my by name, so if I have to get anything, (we also have 4 Honda quads and a CRF250R dirtbike) I get it there.

dReWpY 12-08-2009 11:11 PM

the honda almost always tried to order from scotts motorcycle shop in cali, guy new his RC51's like almost no other (dan Kyle excluded)

the buell i am sure it will be from the local dealership they have been awesome

karl_1052 12-08-2009 11:49 PM

Local hole in the wall MC shop.
even has a dyno!

njchopper87 12-08-2009 11:57 PM

I don't trust the local dealership.. wayyy over charged me for a tire change. Parts I need are ordered online. However, my dad's friend knows some people at a local shop that I'll probably order through once I check them out.

t-homo 12-09-2009 12:28 AM

online or the local shop if they have it for not much more.

This.

i vary mine from a local parts shop, a dealership, and online ordering from a couple places. newest place is JP Cycle, hopefully that one works out well.

Gas Man 12-09-2009 09:49 AM

I order most of mine from my dealers onlnie site. 20% off retail. Sure I have to pay shipping but still cheaper than full retail. But their shipping is cheap. I ordered all these parts. Came in like 3 boxes and only charged $17 I think.

z06boy 12-09-2009 09:51 AM

Mostly online for me. I may buy a few things from a local shop but usually after doing my research I order online.

shmike 12-09-2009 10:04 AM

Local dealer 100%.

It's nice dealing with a company you can trust.

Rider 12-09-2009 10:07 AM

Online usually unless it's gear, then I want to try it on before I buy.

Cutty72 12-09-2009 01:34 PM

online mostly. Local shops don't have and won't order shit.

Sean 12-09-2009 02:17 PM

Bikebandit, usually half of what the dealer charges.

pauldun170 12-09-2009 02:20 PM

Online - Ronayers
Used to shop at the local place but they went out of business.

Rangerscott 12-09-2009 08:54 PM

Ebay or some one else's online dealer cause the one here charges more than everyone else.

marko138 12-10-2009 12:07 PM

Depends. If it's something I need immediately I go to the dealer. If it's something I can wait on I'll get it online.

However, with the recent transgressions of the Motor Company I now avoid the dealer at all costs, and quite frankly, they haven't been able to help me either. Which is sad, b/c, honestly, I'd rather pay a little more to get my parts when I want them and to support local biz. So, too bad for them.

Fleck750 12-10-2009 05:02 PM

With a 30 year old bike, I get stuff where I can.

Every time I ever ordered from them it took them 3+ weeks to get me my shit. I gave up on that gimmick rather quickly.

:iagree: I try to buy locally if it is not too much more. Plus one of the guys at the shop always gives me 20% off. :beers:

Captain Morgan 12-10-2009 08:16 PM

I bought most of my parts online. Did a lot of ebaying when I needed parts.

Try www.motogrid.com. Stuff shows up w/in 5 days, and they are usually cheaper than theifbandit.

the pipes came in from JP Cycle. very well packed, excellent condition and arrived right on time. guess I'll keep their address for future orders.

nhgunnut 12-16-2009 10:52 AM

for some things I will go to a Local Dealer or Motorcycle shop. The Majority of stuff I want is not available from them. <Heated Grips and B King Mirrors most recent purchases>

fasternyou929 12-16-2009 11:53 AM

Online 100%. I've tried working with 3 local dealers here, and each one of them can't seem to keep their word. I hope they all go out of business.

www.powersportspro.com
www.ronayers.com

Bother very similar in price, so it just depends who's lower for that particular part and/or who has it in stock.

MikeSP1 12-16-2009 01:34 PM

It gets really hard to find that random little bolt you need, but Honda wants $9+ for a steel bolt that is about an inch long. I mostly get my parts from other riders who are parting out track bikes. Plus, it's cheaper to buy a used shock and have it rebuilt than it is to buy a brand new shock, stuff like that. And the fact that I can't order parts from a shop in Japan without having a Japanese title, and I still haven't managed to get that done, what the fuck am I waiting for.

Tmall 12-16-2009 05:09 PM

Where ever I can get it cheapest. And with a very limited aftermarket, that's not very many places.

racedoll 12-17-2009 08:17 AM

I get the basics, oil and oil filter from the dealer.
Tires I get online and brake pads I got online, actually no I got those from the dealer too.
I haven't done much else to the bike but if I do or would, most likely will come from online.
