Speedracer42 12-15-2009 04:12 PM

Im not an import guy but that white car is super sano and a sweet driver. I would def rock a car like that.

Homeslice 12-15-2009 04:16 PM

Nice, but he wants $18,000 for it??

lol.......finish the body & interior first.

Dave 12-15-2009 04:32 PM

i hate to piss in your wheaties but thats a celica not a corolla. Clean as shit tho. Is that a 3sgte?

Avatard 12-15-2009 04:42 PM

Very nice...........Looks great in that color, but that's British Racing Green. Be unique, and quit swinging on Jaguar's nutsack.

There’s a debate on who’s responsible for the styling of the 2000GT as some insist that Toyota refined the original design by Yamaha and German-American designer Albrecht Goertz, the creator of the BMW 507, but most seem to concur that Toyota designer Satoru Nozaki should be the one credited for the car’s styling.
I doubt it....... most Asians just don't have it in their blood.

how so? The 70's produced some beautiful little cars in japan. Just look at the old skylines or early rx mazdas. Hell even mitsu's old gto was badass. Most of the 2kgts were white btw. The shelby tuned ones were two tone

Homeslice 12-15-2009 07:26 PM

I like old Skylines too, but they weren't what I'd call beautiful.......just purposeful.

Seriously, the 2000GT is the only Japanese car I'd describe as beautiful. The FD RX7 being close, but not really.

Dave 12-15-2009 08:19 PM

not even the original nsx?

good looking, of course......but beautiful, I dunno, for me it would need more curves to be called beautiful.

interesting. I suppose it really depends on what cars made the biggest impact on you in your youth. For me it was primarily the countach, F308, and dee dee mccall's daytona turbo z. All of those feature hard edges and a wedge shape. Might be why im not huge on lots of curves.

101lifts2 12-16-2009 01:04 AM

Who would pay 18 grand for that thing? Shit is ugly IMO. Just because it is old, people are all over it.

I'll take a 69 Chevelle with a 396BB anyday over that heap.

But you're big on the 2000GT and that's not straight-edged :idk:

I prefer the 'Velle with a built mouse motor. Tachs higher, handles better.

LOL!! All Chevelles "handle" like shit. Unless you do a full build on one with modern suspension components. But if you like them for the "hotrod" feel who cares what it handles like in anything but a straight line. They never came with a 302, not that you couldn't put one in. But that is alot of car for a 302. A good friend of mine used to have a '70 SS that I built small blocks for use as a street car and weekend bracket racer. Then one year he ordered up a 540 for it. Not THAT was the ticket.

Cuz a lot of people will probably be nostalgic for it. I think it needs a completely custom body and interior for that price though.

karl_1052 12-16-2009 07:44 PM

my neighbour had one of those when I was a kid, and I thought it was hot back then. this thing made me jizz in my pants.

You mean less than 2500lbs...Car<2500 lbs.

Don't worry, many on this board mess up the <> sign. lol

Hydrant 12-16-2009 09:43 PM

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to the older Jap cars, but there is something about the 240Z that just does it for me. I know a couple people in this area with built 240Z's and they are just cool, and get tons of looks.

Darius 240Z, used to have stunt vids and this 240. Think its a sharp example of a built 240

want one? i have an impossibly clean, 99% original, zero rust. 73'. white with burgundy interior. only want about 8k for it.

unknownroad 12-17-2009 12:46 PM

Still looks like a dumpy old econobox to me :idk: It may be fast and handle well, but so would a used Mazdaspeed 3, and that would have air conditioning.

yuck. if anything should be swapped in its an RB

Adeptus_Minor 12-24-2009 10:57 AM

The two Celicas, I like. :dthumb:
I don't feel tied down by comparisons to American muscle cars because they are examples of a whole other genre and outstanding ones at that.

As for the Z-cars... I wouldn't mind one with a grafted in motor.
I'm a heretic that way. I feel the same about older Jags too.
Love the styling, not crazy about the maintenance.
