How far do you lean? LIAR!

That's kinda cool.
|
Gimmick.
I can already tell how far you lean without a scale. JC |
who couldnt honestly hit the five?
|
gimmick, but pretty neat idea, i always use the puff marshmellow man, when he is gone, job well done
that being said i am a lil surprised about how the buell leans compared to the rc, i have been on the actual side wall of the pp on the rc, but can only barely hit the absolute edge of the corsaIIIs on the buelll, i know alot has to do with the rim size difference, buts its still a surprise to this retard |
Quote:
I still have room to go on the buell but the 2 times I had it out and wanted to rail the road conditions were less than optimal :( |
I have leaned out CBRs, Buells, and SVs. The Buell and SV were totalled...
|
what kinda buell was it?
|
08 1125R. I lowsided no biggie. 4700 in damage. I am having her rebuilt.

True but I thought she deserved a second chance. I am taking the opportunity to install red badywork, a 21.5 degree rake kit, fender eliminator, stickier tires, and a slip on. It'll have a new subframe and forks and swingarm. Some might call it a rebuild, i'll call it 'Smileyized'

The little one lung fourfifty will only do 99 MPH (GPS reading), but she kills the turns. I am dragging peg and knee like crazy in right hander turn three and killing around the bottom of NASCAR 3 and 4. She is a blast at Barber as well. I kinda got in trouble with the Rider coach last time at Barber for passing sport bikes on the outside in several turns. You really have to be on your game riding one of these with sportbike riders of equal riding skill as yourself or you will run all over them entering a turn, because you hardly use any breaks on this sucker and dive way later into turns than a sportbike rider of equal riding skill. If i get her back out on the street i will let you throw a leg over her, she is easy to ride and will make you want to get rid of your sport bike. |

I know what you mean on the striaghts at track days, the sportbikes get you about midway down the striaght and you have to line up a bike or so to their right or left entering the turn as it is like they threw out a parachute when they hit their braking point and you are still WFO. It can be a little scary, but inside the helmet its fun as hell passing sportbikes in a turn on a dirt bike draggin peg and knee. They know you are there cause the sucker has a pretty healthy breath if you know what i mean. |

I think I have been on the track with you before when I had the rc, hell I think I even pitted near you and lined up right next to you lol |

nah, i know rc's are rare, but i actually ride to the td's tape up the lights and letter rip

Great - I wonder how many bikes will get chucked due to consciously trying to 'go for a 5' (just like I've seen happen a few times when someone is making a goal of 'getting a knee down').

One, on a ZX6R, after riding with him one time I told him I refused to ride with him, but would help teach him... in the parking lot, so he could learn to turn/lean etc. He did agree and got better, but still dangerous on the street. Another is a friend of a friend, put 1000 miles on a 250 ninja before picking up a FZ6. He dropped the FZ 3 blocks from the dealership on a sandy corner. Ever since then he's just been scared. Then again, he thinks I'm crazy the way I lean over the bike. Both of those guys were probably between the 2 and 3. Quote:
When I replaced the tires first thing I did was to go out on the highway and weave back and forth in my lane to "scuff" the tires a bit. On the Corsa's, I had a good 1/8" or so of chicken strip. On the PP it was right to the edge, on the rears at least. Just another thing to keep in mind. |

Is Barber as bad? |

It is kind of a double edge sword. I typically run Intermidiate class, which is where i belong anyway. If i have a sport bike that is running pretty much my lap time i can usually get them and hammer thru the turns enough to eventualy not allow them to overtake me in the striaght. Once i reach that milestone its all over, they are no catching me again.
The real problem is you pretty much run the motards flat out, so if you get stuck behind a sportbike entering a turn they kill your momentum and lap times. Still fun though, i hope to do Barber, Nashville (it's 15 min form my house) and little Tally. Little tally should be perfect for the motard. |
Even the newest of newbs could get to the 5. I had my tires scrubbed sidewall to sidewall within 6 months of riding on the street for the first time.
|
Scrubbin to the edges is easy, just ride fast and dont use any body position/lean. The bike will hafta lean farther without you hanging off and walla, no strips.
Or go gung ho and hang off while running ridiculously low lean and risk getting killed due to not having any margin for error. All so you can brag about how shredded your tire is... |

To all the '5 is easy, anybody can do it' guys - When is the last time you've looked at the chicken-strips at a typical bike-night?

I can't claim to get far enough ahead in the curves for any of the sportbikes to NOT catch me again on those straights. If you can do it.....you must be right at the threshold of sponsership on a motard (hats off) |

If they ask, I usually tell em the truth & say the tires have some race laps on em... but sometimes I'll play it up a bit & either just give them a head nod as if to say "yeah, that's right... I'm fast" or say I shredded em on my favorite back roads :D |

Over the past two years i have had tow riders go down while i was leading the group ride. Both had really worn out front tire and this most likely played a hufe factor in the crashes. |
Quote:
Ended up sticking with it and rode maybe 8 to 10 rides with new riders this year including a ride last week with 9 riders. Of those 9 i think i had only ridden with maybe 2 or 3 of them before and maybe only once or twice. We had a good ride. Anyway i am Waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy of topic here and rambling. Hurry up spring...... |

Gettin back to the chicken strip issue. I am trying to figure out how to change the pegs on my KTM950SM as i am drggin the crap out of them before the chicken strips are all gone. I am looking at these, but they are not made for the KTM
http://www.mfw-wolf.de/en/products/m...nting-brackets I have tinkered with my wifes SV650S pegs and think i can buy a setup for the SV and make them work on the Katoom with a little work. I want to so the opposite of what was done on this thread where they lowered the pegs. http://www.twowheelfix.com/showthrea...363#post324363 |
Won't the stupid numbers be worn the hell off really quick?

1. Someone is going to end up suing them after they crash from trying to get the marks gone
2. I think the elephant and marks at the edge mean "if you're using that much tire on the street it probably means you're a fatass and not a fastass" |
Hey, I resemble that comment!
