bike stands, any experience with these?
|
Never used that brand, but i like the reversed ones with the handle in the front.
|
Haven't used them. I do like my Vortex though. Nice and sturdy.
|
yea, i like the forward handle style.
seem sturdy, if no one has any exp with em ill post up when i get em. |
How much is the forward handle PitBull?
|
I don't think there is a big price difference, if any.

for sure. I have a regular rear stand from them that I love. Need to get a front too.
|
I think a lot of the track guys/racers use them since its easier getting the bike up on them by yourself.
I have no expierence with them personally so I cant say |

marko a ways back my friend came over as I was working on my bike, I got very mad and launched a screwdriver like 3 yards down. His then girlfriend got scared and told him he shouldnt hang out with me  hell of a first impression. :rockwoot: i found the screwdriver but the bit was lost in the grass/bushes |
I like to take one thing and break it beyond recognition.
But since most of my work in the garage involves bringing a sammich or cracking a beer....it doesn't happen too often. ;) |

Sounds like the type of shop person I need to keep around. :)

I have learned grass does not like: used motor oil gasoline coolant water over 170 degrees (dad loved that one, was when I was home brewing and had to ditch some water very quickly) |

I think that could be saying something about the vehicle's impact on environment.

Do not buy ANYTHING from powerstands racing. They are thieves who copy other companies' ideas and sell them.
See the recent article in roadracingworld about how they should be boycotted for stealing intellectual property from many companies in the industry, including gilles and yoshimura. Buy a pit bull stand, made in the usa by a great company with great people. I have four of their stands and two of their trailer restraints. Honest folks who stand behind their product. Dnyce and other twfixers (regulars) PM me and I will get you free shipping if you place your order directly with pit bull |
I've got a pitbull.
|
get the pit bull, they are worth the money. Thats what I have now, also have a set of t-rex stands but they are far inferior to the pit bulls!
I am a little lady and can manage the pit bulls, had to have the hubby put the bike on the other stands or I would drop it. good thing its just a track bike! |

Same withthe handy stands I use em at the track or to prop the bike up in the winter but if I am doing any sort of work on the bike I always use the pit bulls. |
Ive used a front stand before, and the only down side to it is that it can get in the way if you are working under the bike, banged my knee on it changing sprockets a few times, its pretty painful too.
|
I have the forward-handle pitbull, it rocks, I don't understand why people buy the regular one, it takes up too much space behind the bike.
|
This has been discussed several hundered times. The same answer applies for all these types of topics. You get what you pay for.
PITBULL FTW http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...ngTime005a.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...ingTime008.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...ingTime006.jpg |
I have a helluva time using a stand on my own and usually need some help. :(
And getting my bike off the stand at the track.....well that's a 2 person job (me on the bike, them on the stand). :lmao: |

I used a wheeled stool, and I can see the handle getting in the way. I have a rear stand, that has a retractable handle. It works awesome. |

the handle comes off so its not in the way. if they copy designs then they are just another knock off, i mean come on stand design cant be that hard, good materials, good welds, done deal. however, as much i wouldnt wana support powerstands based on what oreo said, i had already made the purchase before i even posted this topic.
but, i got lucky and got a new one for $5 :D ebay seriously. so, cant beat that. |

Pitbull is also still the best on the market! |

:D i know, pitbull is the best, yadda yadda, didnt ask about them tho, now did i?
|
they work pretty good, one handed operation, sturdy. handle isnt even in the way so i dont bother taking it off.

Pics of the 1-armed pitbull are in this thread:

Getting the bike off the stand should never take more than just the rider: If you are tall enough you can straddle the bike and push yourself off the stand. If you aren't tall enough, stand beside the bike and grab the bars. Push the bike forward leaving your back foot in front of the wheels on the stand. The stand will hit your foot and tip forward dropping the bike onto the ground. |

I was curious about their ability to do so. It seemed like either the tire would have to roll over the stand or the angle would make it nearly impossible to lift. :idk: |
Check the pics I posted here http://www.twowheelfix.com/showthrea...ight=one-armed
I don't see why it wouldn't work... I'm not at home though. |

1. Either the tire would have to roll over the stand or 2. The angle would make it nearly impossible to lift. I think I just had deja vu. |
Yes the tire has to "roll over the stand", but actually it clears the stand before it rolls over it. Unless you didn't raise the adjustable ends high enough to lift the bike high enough.
Notice in my pics how the tire is hovering right above the stand? Well, it WAS behind it, and then it got rolled forward over it. |
