Bored with riding????
One of the advantages of having the hobby I have is that I get to meet and talk to a bucketful of bikers, both current or former. I say former, because many of the people I buy bikes from are “getting out” of the motorcycle scene. While I am sensitive to riders who quit for numerous reasons (finances, a close call, a baby on the way, disability, ect.), what I have a hard time comprehending is when an owner tells me he’s selling and giving up biking because (s)he’s “bored” with riding.
No comprende’, compadre. Does not compute. Blue screen. Reboot. I don’t know how many miles I’ve ridden on two wheels; I’ve not kept track. I do know that I have literally worn out a number of bikes and ridden many miles on a whole bunch more. I also know I’ve felt a whole lot of things during my career of riding; from excitement to awe to fear to discomfort to joy to disappointment to ….., well, you get the idea. But never boredom. Not once. Never. Nada. As old as I am, I seem to measure my life into two segments; BB and AB (Before Bikes and After Bikes). I can virtually measure major events in my life by what I was riding and the memorable rides I had during each period or event (and during my early years, by what injuries I had from which mistakes I made). To me, it never matters much what the road looks like on the map; long and straight interstate or twisty blue wiggles that resemble the varicose veins marking the passage of years on my legs; to me, each road and trip that I take holds the promise of challenge and potential adventure no matter where it takes me, because motorcycling and doing it well requires all my attention, care and skill. What’s to be boring about that? How ‘bout you? |
I'm never bored riding, but I do find it to be a pain sometimes. Often I will just take the car rather than get all my gear out.
|
Those people (to me) aren't riders at heart
My BIL is a good example of that..THOUGHT he wanted a bike at 28...got an F4i and rode it for a year..then sold it because it was "boring" Me: I've had a bike since 8yrs old, and can't/won't imagine my life without one |

I got bored with riding a few years ago. All my regular riding buddies got rid of their bikes, and left me high and dry. So I'm all alone, nobody to ride with and it does get boring.
|
I used to ride
but then it started snowing and ice started appearing on the ground one day I hope there will be a day where there is no snow or ice on the ground then I may take up riding again |
Whenever I get bored out onthe road
I sing to myself and have musical conversations with myself Then at each stoplight when no one is around I fap |
Ew
|
i got lucky, i found a good group to ride with, as long as it stays untainted i shouldn't have to worry about being bored anytime soon

Who are you to judge? |
I don't get to ride enough to get bored. It doesn't matter about the group thing. I enjoy riding by myself. However, I do like going to the track and meeting up with a bunch of folks I know.
|
The only times I have ever been bored or riding or motorcycles is when I am not getting an opportunity to ride. Long winters, injury, whatever the reason I get tired of talking about it, bored thinking about it, think I could sell them all and quit. Then I go for aride and my enthusiasm starts all over again.

I get bored in KA, that's the only place
|
good topic, I'm with Castertroy, can't/will not imagine not having a motorcycle.
|
I do get bored with it. I'll pull the bike out, get my gear ready and then just not go.. It happens from time to time. I doubt I'll ever get bored enough to stop riding. But, it does happen.
Any thing can get boring when you do it every single day. :idk: |
I get bored riding on the street from time to time. But the second I get a chance to hit the dirt, or the local track it is excitement city again.
|
I'm just bored of my bike, can't wait to get something bigger.

Solitude can be a good thing. I'm not sure bikes really are a social thing, leastways not for me; I enjoy the occasional group ride, but some of the most memorable rides have been alone time (no offense, Marko). I just enjoy the experience; be it a short commute, a trip to the store, or a cross-country butt burning endurance dash.... it's all good.... |

its that feeling of just complete serenity and peace. knowing the world is entirely within your grasp. I feel if you must use a motorcycle as a social networking means, you're not fully experiencing the ride. |
Street riding, yes. Dirt/track not a chance!
|
I do like being alone mostly. But I also feel like I push myself harder in a group. I'm also very picky about who I'll ride with; no squids allowed.

And I agree about the "lazy" thing. A lot of times the truck is just easier. However, even for the short rides & commutes I find myself doing these days, my motorcycle exhilarates me. |

I don't think I will ever get bored since I don't get to ride during winter. Even if I didn't have the break, I wouldn't get bored. It does get a little lonely when you don't have anyone to ride with you. |

If you get bored just everyday riding....maybe it's time to "ramp it up"

Cars are boring.
|
Wow! :tremble: I'm itching to ride off-road more, but I don't think I want it to be quite that exciting!
I can't ever imagine being 'bored' with riding - it's simply a part of me. Even in my most 'down' times, it never fails to push everything else aside & force me to live in the moment. I'm really looking forward to consistent warm weather coming back around so I can get many more miles in this year - including some long solo trips & camping off the bike! |

He stalled it... noob |
when i get bored it'll be turbo time
|
i've met many - ok, several but I don't get out much - women who don't ride anymore because it got "boring". What they really meant is that it didn't make up for all the looks and personality they're lacking and they didn't get as many dates as the salesperson promised them. Boring.
ya, whatever. |

Damn I can't see it.

After reading all this I'm kind of inspired to enjoy it more!

Ya, you pretty much gotta cross over to quebec, or get east of bathurst along the coast (which is awesome). Other than that, your SOL. Though they did pave around balmoral to c'ton. But still, its not like its a lot of nice road, lol. |

Its kind of hard right now not having a bike, but if i'm stressed I just jump in my car and drive for hours. My favorite is at night. Wish I could do it on a bike though.... |
