Just got off the phone with Busa Shane..

He wrecked the Bus a couple hours ago. Broken collarbone and a punctured lung. The bike is in two pieces. He told me brake malfunction was the cause.

He's ok and already looking for a ZX-10...

derf 06-27-2010 06:35 PM

Oh damn! I hate to ask but how fast was he going?

I hate to see how is on a zx10, he hauled that busa around like it was a 600 ss already

Amber Lamps 06-27-2010 06:41 PM

Wow, tell him I said I'm sorry and...
I TOLD YOU, SUCKER!!!

J/K I am really sorry to hear this. It's funny because my Busa broke in half as well... Hmmm...:idk: I'm sure that he'll be back terrorizing the roads there in no time. Give him my best!

Dave 06-27-2010 06:59 PM

damn, hope he heals quickly

The bike hit a tension wire holding up a power pole and kept going another 75 yards into a field.

He said the brakes locked up and he just bailed.

I can't wait to see pics.

tached1000rr 06-27-2010 07:25 PM

glad he was not on the bike when it hit that wire:tremble:

derf 06-27-2010 07:31 PM

Yeh holy shit that sounds like it could have been a lot worse

Trip 06-27-2010 07:53 PM

Is he in the hospital still? Glad he is mostly alright.

HokieDNA01 06-27-2010 11:56 PM

He's probably gonna have surgery on the collarbone. He'll be ok..

nhgunnut 06-28-2010 06:30 AM

Brake malfunction....???
Perhaps the nut connecting the seat to the handlebars.......

Particle Man 06-28-2010 10:04 AM

holy crap - he's lucky he bailed if there was a high tension wire - could have cut him in half

He said he squeezed the front and it never released. It just went to full lockup and spit him off.

I'm inclined to believe him. He's not the kind of person that wouldn't take full responsibility for screwing up.

A broken collar bone is no reason not to ride, but it gives hokia a free pass not to get busted again

I've heard of calipers freezing on a car but never worried about it on the bike. Sounds like it could have been much worse.

I had a friend that launched a Busa by the "throttle getting stuck" (his story, fwiw :idk:).
He was pulling out of a parking lot onto a street, the supposed throttle sticking happened, and he shot across the road, across a parking lot, and slammed into the side of a building.
If he did it to himself, that was some real dedication.

Yeah, this was years ago.
He was pretty busted up at the time, but he's fine now.
Rides a cruiser now, I think, if he's riding at all.

nhgunnut 06-30-2010 06:29 AM

Wish him my best and let him know if he decides to part the busa I may need some of it.

tommymac 06-30-2010 08:12 AM

hope he heals up well, musta dinged the collarbone prety good if they want to go in for surgery.

Shane on a zx-10, hmm maybe you should disconnect a spark plug wire or 2 to make it a fair fight

Mr Lefty 07-06-2010 07:45 AM

damn just found this... how's he doing?

Riceaholic 07-06-2010 04:40 PM

He's good. Back at work and braced up.

derf 07-06-2010 05:12 PM

Hes not gonna try and arrest hokie again, I think she can take him this time

HokieDNA01 07-07-2010 11:19 AM

LOL I'll try to step on his foot harder. It ALMOST worked last time!
