New Ride

Got my new pickup last weekend. I can now pull my bike and gear in a nice enclosed trailer, along with the kitchen sink... still in the house.
Man I love big diesels!

Same for me on LI. Pocono is a little over 2 hrs as is monticello and NJMP.

I'm not a big Ford man,....actually I kinda hate Ford. Dad, worked for Chrysler for 30 years so I am partial.

Yours is nice will say that. Love that huge front bumper.

But the thing that makes me dislike Ford is that they could put a box on wheels and people/corporations would buy it. Chrysler when they were with Diamler they made the Dodge Sprinter offered with a gas engine and the super econo class Diesel. Nice for all sorts of purposes; buses, panel vans, cargo vans, work vans, an actual standard van, lots of applications. But did DTE buy them? NO. Ford comes out with a mini version the Ford Connect, not even made in N. America, made in Turkey. And they don't have a deisel version yet. And DTE buys the shit out them. the people I have talked to say they hate them, main reason why; TOO SMALL. fucktards the Sprinter would have done so much better

shmike 08-25-2010 09:53 AM

Who is DTE?

Maybe if the Sprinter wasn't $40k more of them would have sold. :idk:

Nice truck, Cutty! :dthumb:

z06boy 08-25-2010 10:10 AM

My friend loves his F250. He has a few mods on it but it pulls strong !!

Maybe he is talking about the energy company up in Michigan.:idk:

I agree with you, the Sprinter is very expensive for what it is. The Sprinter available in North America is bigger than the Ford Connect available here, but Dodge also charges double (or more) for that extra size. Ford does have larger sizes of the Connect (Transit elsewhere) in the rest of the world, but didn't seem to think the larger sizes were justified for the NA market, something the market seems to agree with.

ETA: Nice truck. That thing is a beast.

Kaneman 08-25-2010 11:15 AM

Fuck yea dude, that's a beautiful truck! Love the F250...

Also, Chrysler is a shithole company that should've been out of business years ago.

Gas Man 08-25-2010 11:18 AM

Nice truck cutty.

Don't listen to cave... he's got inner issues that are best left alone like a sleeping bear.

The sprinter and the transit connect ford thing are both nice for what they are made for. Saying the ford is a pos because it's small just shows that their mental capability is dismal. The sprinter which is really just a cheap knock off the mercades is nice, but as stated very pricey and perhaps not the best application for DTE (yes SE, MI energy company/Detroit Edison). Finally, the lack of mental capability doesn't exactly make me feel comfortable being those guys are running the nuclear plant 20 mins from my house.

Yeah, I like the bumper too, pretty sure I can hit anything from a squirrel to a moose and anything between without damage! In fact I did get a coon on the way home and barely even felt it.

The Guard has a few Sprinters, the are pretty good for hauling a few people and a bunch of gear.
We used the shit out of the Transit's and the Mercedes Benz version while we were in Germany. Awesome rigs, love the little diesel, pretty peppy.

Thanks.

I feel for you, hope you don't die from a nuclear "accident"

Nice truck Cutty!

Now - go get the matching rear bumper :) www.bumperdude.com If you can't find what you're looking for on his site [might possibly be the worst site I've ever been on] just call him. He's local to Austin, so we picked up ours and installed ourselves. He's got some great deals.

No real need. I wouldn't have swapped out the front bumper, but it was already done so I'm good.
I'd rather spend the $$ on intake (DIY) and Exhaust (MBRP or Magnaflow) a tonneau cover, and maybe wheels and tires

And Local to Austin means a lot of shipping for Cutty!

101lifts2 08-27-2010 10:50 PM

That is a big pickup.

Yes, yes it is.

It fits in my garage, barely. Have to fold in both mirrors, and there's about a foot in front and a few inches in the back.

There is a reason I didn't get a long box.

 that just means roadtrip!

We got both, I've been rearended. If someone hits this, I get to just shrug and look at their demolished vehicle.

Good plan on the upgrades tho. I can't believe that fits in your garage.

Kaneman 08-28-2010 10:23 AM

So these bumpers and guards really do add a significant amount of front and rear crash protection?

TommyHotWheel 08-28-2010 11:14 AM

Big upgrade over the thin stockers, Josh.

Yeah, these are solid steel vs the thin junk of the stockers. I would guess there is about a 300 lb difference in weight between mine and the stock one. Not to say they can't get damaged, but it will take a LOT more abuse.

Next time I put it in the garage, I'll take some pics

Gas Man 08-31-2010 07:16 AM

I really should take a pic of this F550 at a dealer on my way to work, it's all done up too.... it dwarfs ur F250/350's. INSANE

There was a guy parked in my apartment parking lot for a few days with one of these...

Ridiculously huge and sounded BAD ASS...
(that's a stock pick from the company that builds them.. the one I saw here was a 4x4 model, single cab, I think?)

azoomm 08-31-2010 01:22 PM

Yeah, those F650 'supertrucks' are insane.
But hey, if someone needs the bawls and has ~100g's to drop on a truck...

yeah, I wonder how long it's going to be before the rich start using those as DD's instead of the 3/4 and 1 ton pickups.
