Officially disgusted...

So I buy this 1125R last July and overjoyed put a thousand miles on it before I crash, causing me 2 surgeries and forcing me to miss 7 months of riding. I have to sell my ZX6R to help pay for my medical bills and repairs. But it is all OK cause the bikes fixed and I am better.

I hit a great track day and get ready for the fall riding season, only to have my charging system fail. I missed my Arkriders Forum ride, will miss next weeks Bikes Blue and BBQ Festival and who knows?

when I think of all the time and money I really question my biking hobby. After 15 years I am almost ready to give it all away...My you-know-what is hurting!

tommymac 09-25-2010 10:15 AM

Sucks to hear, hopefully yours gets fixed faster than mine did.

Yeah, mine was in the shop for just inside of a month, but it's back and seems to be ok now.
(when I can actually ride)

Wallet?

Damn, that is a bad run. Get the bike fixed and go for a ride. That should make you forget about all the other stuff, at least for a little bit.

try almost 3 months for me :( guys on the buell forums seemed to have a turn around time of 2-6 weeks.

Trip 09-25-2010 11:52 AM

Seems like it might be time to try another style of riding. Like dual sport or touring.

smileyman 09-25-2010 03:02 PM

I looked at a DRZ and a KLR yesterday. I dunno.

I did buy a 12 pack, so that will be my therapy for this weekend.

What he said. Less wear and tear (on the rider ). You drop some coin on gear and such but if you do it right you keep that stuff for a while.

101lifts2 09-25-2010 05:51 PM

Buy a Japanese bike and it won't shit out.

Also did you crash from squid riding or was it on a track?

tallywacker 09-25-2010 06:10 PM

Riding without health insurance. No thanks.

smileyman 09-25-2010 06:31 PM

I crashed canyon carving. 2nd time in 15 years so go figure. And I do have health Ins. Blue Cross Blue shield but I took my deduct + mininum out of pocket both 09 at the wreck and 10 for the surgeries. So? What else did I do wrong?

Time to take it to the track.

I am a former club racer with 5 years and an AM championship. OK I was bitching about a bad turn of events. I really dont think this was really anything more than the law of averages...It just sux!

Pretty much bro

Mr Lefty 09-25-2010 07:06 PM

Smilie... I agree with trip, maybe it's time for a different type of riding... I'm not saying trade it all for a DRZ or a KLR like I did.. but look at something like that. you can pick up a used KLR or DRZ for pretty cheap.

smileyman 09-25-2010 07:20 PM

I'm looking...I pondered dropping the Buell for a 250 trifecta, A Ninja 250, a Kawi 250 'tard, and a 250 dirt bike of some brand TBD...Or maybe just one 750, LOL

I wasn't gonna be the one to say it

smileyman 09-25-2010 07:28 PM

Doesnt matter how I crashed really. I coulda been pushing the limits while channeling Ben Spies or skidded down on a diesel spill. I already posted about it way back last October. Any accident is rider error.

My first thought.... you know it's a buell, right?

Sorry about the turn of events. It sucks.

Smiley, don't get too down on yourself. Sometimes, it's about looking outside of the norm to keep it fun and interesting.

smileyman 09-26-2010 04:16 PM

I'll be back by God. I will have my cake and eat it too. I may have to scrape up a new bike to do it or mortgage the 5 yr old, but speed has always been MY game. My passion. I just need more...of everything really. Lets just call it mid life crisis and move on...

 That's the spirt !! Pop open another one !! It does suck and I 'thought' I had given up riding a while back but I guess when just in the blood it's hard to resist or completly give up on.

I have to agree with this. I know I was down about different styles of riding throughout the years... it wasn't till my 3rd choice in styles/bikes that I think I found the one I love. My Ultra (touring style) is amazing and it takes me to places I would otherwise not see. WIN WIN for me!

smileyman 09-30-2010 10:46 AM

My dealer has ordered my voltage regulator. The service writer indicated it would be paid under warrantee, although he couldnt tell me when he might get the part, how long it would take to service, or when I would get my bike back.

I then looked over a XR1200, 2 V Rods, a Firebolt, and an Ultra. I was uninspired, so I went to the local Kawi, Suzi, Yammie, KTM dealer and sat on a KX250SM and duallie, a DRZ400 and duallie, a Versys, a ZX14, a Super Duke, a Z1000, a Ninja 250, and a ZX10. Still no woodie. I was intrigued by the Z1000 but it rides the fence for impracticallity. There was a leftover EX500 that brought back fond memories but not enough to buy it.

Has my crash and my breakdown quenched my desire? The only thing right now that excites me is the thought of racing again. Is that cause I can't afford to achieve it or is that my real fetish?

I would agree...but I went that route to curb the dangers of a high speed crash in a corner, only to rail the piss out of my RT better than several of the young guys around the mountain

Personally....I believe NOTHING curbs the desire to ride fast. If you buy a KLR....with knobbies....you're still gonna act a fool in the corners.

Trip is PROOF of that himself on that GS

Just best to take it to track days if the road spooks you too much.

I've been down 4 times on the street due to gravel, or, and tires just DONE with heat cycles long before tread was gone. They all spooked me but NONE have made me any slower unfortunatly

You my friend need a grey market rs250

smileyman 09-30-2010 01:01 PM

You got one Dave? I have a thick file on the GP450 singles conversions, looked at the 'priller 125, researched the Ninja 250s race cred, checked out the HRC Moriwaki 250...That seems right up my alley. My closest track is 1.8 mi and ten tight turns. A liter or even a good 600 is overkill there...

Bro I wish, only ever saw one in person once. They pop up on 13x forums and raresportbikesforsale.com from time to time though. Untitleable bikes usually roll around 5k

smileyman 10-01-2010 08:35 PM

When I was racing lt wt twins with my SV there were 2 RS250s in my class. The street version they brought to the US for a spec series. They were meat on the table, but there was one that would show up, Bill Erzal, that had one fully modded, big bore. And that one would cook! He rode it well too. I figure the GP spec RS would be a dream...

Chris, short for Christopher, yes it is.
I like that Kawi. Likes it alot. Wonder what jetting they have it running that far North. Helped a friend bring back a TZ from Colorado. We fried a top end at Texas World with what we thought to be optimal jetting. Of course I have learned alot since then...
